    No Gourmet Sentai?

...this list sucks. And what is Battletoads dong there? There are only, like, two beat 'em up levels in the game. The rest is racing, puzzles, and other stuff.

If I had a Jynx think of the things we can do together. She also kisses alot.
Not to mention her breast plates is obviously hiding something nice

Man, lots of great titles in that list.

Too bad The Simpsons was listed at all, let alone at number 2. Don't really agree with TMNT TIT at number 1 either...Konami beat 'em ups were just credit feeders with slick graphics. The gameplay was fairly generic and the bosses were cheap as shit with overpowered attacks and grossly inflated hitpoints.

Also, Golden Axe instead of Golden Axe 2? MAYBE IN BIZARRO LAND.

Would have been nice to see a little Rushing Beat love (BRAWL BROTHERS! ), but I realize that's really stretching it. As it is, I'm happy they included the non-Konami games that they did.

2 levels guy? Think again! Battletoads is definetly worthy of being on this list of beat 'em ups

I personally would have like to have seen AvP on the list.

I fully agree. In fact, Alien vs Predator should have been number 1 on the list! Also a complete lack of any of the Knights of Valour games in there is a bit wrong too.

I scoff at the idea that both "Final Fight" and "Double Dragon" are ahead of SOR2. SOR2 has far better and smoother control that both of those games combined.

Also, the inclusion of "Batman Returns" puts the nail in this lists coffin. BR had really limited moves and was pretty generic for a Konami beat 'em up.

Possibility is infinity! You must be satisfied!

After watching GameTrailers video for the list, I have a little more understanding of their thinking behind each game. Some of the "missing" games mentioned by everyone here definitely belong, but they are all close calls. The first 8 definitely all belong (but never played Simpsons so can't really speak for that). Sure, you can take Batman off and replace it with something, but what else? All these games belong in the top 10. The order may be off-- TMNT4 is an EXCELLENT game, but I think Guardian Heroes is the best one listed here.

As for SOR2 being better than FF and DD, I agree, but the other two probably deserve more credit because the reality is that SOR is just a clone of those games. Read any old reviews from back when these games were popular and you'll see that "beat 'em up" and "Final Fight clone" are used interchangeable (just like 'FPS' and 'Doom-clone'). Really, I'm not a big fan of FF or DD over some of the games that cloned the, but they do deserve extra credit for their influence.

Capcom's Dungeons & Dragons games are not on this list. I disapprove.

I have to wonder why those chose the arcade version of FF but picked the NES version of DD. Why not the arcade version of DD? Why do they not have the game that inspired the NES port?

The NES version of Double Dragon played differently from the arcade one and had a neat little experience/leveling system. I don't recall the NES version having as much crippling slowdown either, though it might have had more flicker...it's been a while since I played either version (GBA version FTW!).

Why aren't any of the Street Fighter games in the top 10? Who conducted this poll?!

Lame list overall. Double Dragon 1 wasn't even the best in the series, nor was the NES port the best version, so having that as the third best beat 'em up of all time is ludicrous. Also, Batman Returns isn't great at all; the only Batman Returns worth playing is the Sega CD version, and mostly just for the driving levels. I would say TMNT 4 is borderline for inclusion, but as #1 it's just silly.

I would've liked to have seen 3D beat 'em ups represented by one game, preferably Die Hard Arcade.

Street Fighter is not a beat 'em up... it's a fighting game. Completely different genre.

The system they list it for might also have to do with what system it was best known for being on. Final Fight was far better known for it's arcade version-- the console ports were actually a bit of a let down. Most people remember playing Double Dragon for the NES, regardless of whether the arcade was better (personally, never played the arcade version). So, yes, the list is called "best beat 'em ups of all time", but it seems obvious that they used factors such as the games overall influence on the genre rather than just pure fun alone (hence why Final Fight and Double Dragon rank high, and why DD1 is listed over its superior sequels). So I guess that is part of the problem with the list.
