Default Buyer did not pay for item, now claims I never shipped it?!

So a guy from France won an item from me two weeks ago. The item was a pair of records that ended at $25. I sent him an invoice, a few days passed, I sent him a message and he said that he needed some time to pay.

Four days passed. I filed a non paying buyer thing, basically a reminder. He replied saying that he was going to pay soon. I said fine.

And now he's saying I'm charging too much shipping.

    Him:
"hello, please give me the new total for ship. The ship for 2 records 45 are 7 US for the France no
    14 . Thanks"

    And I replied with this:
"Um... where did you get that amount? I am shipping these items via Global Priority Mail. The items will be shipped inside a box to prevent damage and bending, and the box pushes the weight to just over a pound, which comes to about $14 in shipping. I'm terribly sorry, but I will not change my shipping quote."

I was going to ship this via Global Airmail, but this costs the same, so I figured I'd do it this way.

What do I do? I'm tired of this jerk ignoring me, and I'm actually thinking of canceling the transaction... but I don't want a neg. Argh... >_<

If he has a problem with the services that you stated in your auction, then he shouldn't bid!

That sucks. But you have enough feedback on ebay that you can handle a negative, be sure to reply to it though. Just cancel it. He sounds like a bum anyway.

Make sure you block him from bidding on all your future auctions.

14 dollars to France! Wow, I hate Canada Post! It would cost me like 30 dollars to send it! 14 dollars Is a really good deal, I would think.

Actually, did you state in your auction that the shipping would be US$14.00 to France?

just tell the guy its $14 and continue with the non-paying bidder stuff. follow through and make sure he gets a strike.

i don't sell outside of the us for reasons such as this. if you do decide to sell outside the us, i'd at least post that all items are shipped via express mail only and it will cost a minumum of $20.

The shipping for a couple of 7" I've received from the US has been around $7 but it doesn't matter, your auction, your rules. If he didn't ask for a shipping quote before bidding it's his problem. I think it's time for him to learn to honor his bids.

Maybe he was waiting a similar package to arrive to see the shipping costs on that?

I specifically say in my auctions that people that are not Americans should contact me for a shipping quote before bidding... but he did not ask for a quote before doing so. I sent him an invoice after the item ended, and he said it was too expensive. I explained why I was charging so much, and he never replied.

I then opened the dispute, and he's saying this again.

Which is funny, I sold another set of records to a German person, and it cost the same to ship the items... and he had no problems whatsoever with my shipping quote. Feh.

200609: My only negative is from a stupid person who said the item I sold her was broken, and she wouldn't back down at all. She didn't even ask for a refund, so... I'm afraid of getting a second negative.

Most buyers don't mind the shipping costs... but yeah, what the hell.

    edit:
davidleeroth, sorry, I didn't see your reply. I'm thinking that's the situation, but I don't know how to package records properly, so I'm shipping them in a box to make sure they don't get damaged even more. I'm actually thinking of canceling this outright because one of the records is -broken- (stated in the auction, of course!) but considering how this person is acting...

    Edit edit:
    The item is here.

People shouldn't be afraid of filing a complaint with eBay or leaving negative feedback if it's deserved because they're concerned about receiving a negative in return. All it really does is diminish the credibility of the feedback system as a whole.

That being said, I'd probably cancel the auction as well. If the guy didn't pay attention to your auction listing enough to read your shipping terms then he probably also didn't notice that one of the records was damaged and would probably bitch about this down the road.

Just out of curiosity, why even sell a damaged record?

The record isn't worth so much. It's the sleeve that's worth quite a bit. I've seen auctions for the record sleeve only go up to $40 USD! Yeah, I don't get it either. :P

If i were you, i'd jsut keep going through the non-paying process and not budging on the price. Once you do actually get the strick to go through, the buyer can't leave you feedback if I remember properly.

So I have to wait until the weekend? Since he already replied to me, I can get my final value fee back, but I'm not sure about the strike.

Personally, I don't think you should be concerned about the negative. Just leave a comment afterwards that he would not pay.

Well, the person now asked me to ship the item inside a cardboard box - which was how I was gonna ship the item originally - and I said that the original price quote was for a cardboard box.

But he ticked me off so I ended the dispute. I'm sure he'll go nuts, but you know what? I don't care. I'm tired of dealing with that idiot. I'll just offer the discs to the second highest bidder now.

    P.S.
Buyers should not stick to their own eBays. Unless they're morons.

    OKAY WHAT THE HELL.

Now the guy opened an Item Not Received claim AGAINST ME! I closed the dispute last night, and I never received payment, so why is he able to file this against me?!
