I have a problem with my original model DS (NTR-001).
Here's the story:
A couple weeks ago while I was still sleeping, my cousin was over at my house. My brother caught him playing with my DS. He must have been playing it for a long time before he was caught because when my brother gave it to me I tried powering it on, and it was dead. After that, I put it on charge. The charge light blinked on, then it was off and remained off. I kept an eye on the light for the next few hours, and it still remained off. I then came to the conclusion that my cousin killed the battery, so I shelled out the $15 and ordered a replacement one from Nintendo. Whenever I received the battery, I put it in the DS and proceeded to charge it. The charge light once again blinked, then went back off. I left it on charge for the next 5 hours afterward. The light remained off. I figured that if I ordered a new battery and charged it, it would be fine. But apparently that is not the case. I called my cousin yesterday to ask him about my DS. He told me that after he had been playing it for 2 hours, the power light went red, but he chose to ignore it and continue playing. After the power turned off, he kept on turning it back on for the next 2 hours, even if it was just for 2 minutes of play. Right now I feel like ripping his head off. My DS is still dead even with the new battery.
Now my question is: Is it possible to permanently short the DS so that it will not charge, hold a charge or power on? I think that the constant powering on of the DS on a low battery for an extended period of time shorted out the charging unit within the DS.
Could someone please help me? I have the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl to pick up on Sunday, and I want to be able to play them after I pick them up.
