Tuff E Nuff for SNES says the war to end all wars will break out in 2151 and only the strong will survive and Syoh, Zazi, Kotono and Vortz will be the only one capable of defeating the evil Fighting King - Jade.

At least that's not for 141 and a half years huh?

It doesn't count as its not here yet, but still is pretty close in terms of other exaggerations. It's not like in the 3000s or later

    Dude, that's 2009 talk. This is 2015 we're talking about here. 2.0.1.5.

Yeah. He missed the scene in the alley where laserdiscs and CD's were bundled together to be trashed/recycled.

Steven Spielberg's son better get cracking if he is going to make "Jaws 19" in 6 years.

    If I remember correctly,

In Snatcher, Neo Kobe is built after Kobe was nearly destoryed in an earthquake,

in 1995 the real Kobe experienced a pretty devastating earthquake. No Neo Kobe though.

Except that blu-ray isn't a holographic medium. It's basically the same as a regular DVD but uses a blue laser which has a shorter wavelength so it can fit more on the disc. Or am I misunderstanding what was being said?

DVDs, or rather, the next format of them will be able to hold many terabytes. FMDs are supposed to be the next wave. They will likely hold 10 terabytes, but can theoretically have up to 100 layers for a theoretical capacity of 1 petabyte on a single disc the same size as a DVD.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluores...ultilayer_Disc

The company that was making them made the mistake of showing false footage at a show, but the technology is real and sound. The company went under, but was bought by another.

I was making a joke regarding the comment about taking a lot of space to compress holograms, using an image from Futurama as the punchline. That's all.

Hahaha. 78 million rpm. That's just dangerous. Maybe it's holodisc technology that's in Back to the Future. They didn't really get into it in the movie so I believe were still on track.

Yeah, look at the Boston Red Sox. Who would've thought that'd they EVER win another World Series?

I can speak for fellow Yankees fans when I say that we're still pissed about that. No more "Who's Your Daddy?" or "1918" chants.

Oh, but the Nation loves its "Year 2000" chant.

Sweet Zombie Jesus people. Anyone else notice time flying by? Remember when the number 2000 sounded cool and futuristic?

Beyond 2000 was one of my favorite shows on the Discovery channel growing up. I'm still waiting for half of that stuff.

Remember when everyone was going ape over Y2K? What a joke. That was one big CNN based panic attack.

I think the only thing I stocked up on for Y2K was alcohol but it was new years eve after all

According to the original Terminator franchise of games and movies, the world ended in 1997 and we are currently in the middle of a horrifying machine vs man conflict.

"Why did I spend all this money on preventative medicines, when I DIDN'T EVEN GET SICK?!"

The only reason Y2K wasn't a big deal was because of all the time and money spent on patching the really dangerous bugs.

Y2K could have been very bad, I assure you.

Yeah, I'm still underwhelmed with the 21st century and its lack of totally awesome stuff we were promised.

But curve balls like that MS Surface and giant TV's centimeters thick are awesomely unexpected.
