Most of the stuff in the back is broken, leftover from other Goodwills, or untested (they're unable to test it).

    Speaking of which:

All of this came from the dock sale at $0.50 each. The green folder has all 7 Microsoft Office Suite 2000 discs and COA, as well as some Gateway recovery CDs, a STYX greatest hits CD, and a Shaq rap CD (>_> did not know that was in there). I just grabbed the case and got a random selection of about 15 CDs for $0.50 each, but the recovery CDs and the Office CDs pay for the lot. Not pictured is Eternal Champions, Incredible Hulk, Resident Evil Director's Cut, and Final Fantasy VIII missing one disc. Again, all the CDs and games were 50 cents each so no biggie.

That Little Feat CD is autographed . Never heard of the band, but it's nice to have stuff like that.

I got a few other electronics items to sell on eBay, but nothing extremely valuable. Not to be racist at all but there were like 20 Mexicans, myself and my dad at this sale and it was a madhouse. Those people always buy up the good stuff and swarm on everything at these sales. Heck, on tuesday I saw an old Mexican guy walking off with a very expensive Ion DJ's mixing table. I have no idea where they're all taking this stuff. I never see it at the local flea market. (Again, not trying to be racist, but the area of Waco that this Goodwill is located in is called "Little Mexico" because of it's large hispanic population.
Don't forget that with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo too many Mexicans became U.S. citizens so they could be Texans not Mexicans .....

And too many of the flea market purchases are sold in Mexico; sometimes with small profits or big profit depending on the person.

    EDIT:

I promised myself to comment on this but i just couldn't

Ryann: Just because a guy that is old and looks like Mexican, cannot buy an "expensive" Ion DJ's mixing table ?? ...
or just Mexicans shouldn't buy "the good stuff" to let American people buy it ????

I did not say that. I had just remarked that there's always a lot of Mexican people at these sales and they always get a lot of nice electronics. The descriptive part of "old Mexican guy" was just meant to help the other people on this board get a better mental image of the guy that got a DJ mixing table. I'm sorry if it seemed like I was saying that they shouldn't get this stuff, in fact at the time I was thinking about offering to buy the mixing table from the guy. It was a nice piece of equipment

I go to garage sales as both a job and a hobby, and just like anyone else on this board I like to find nice things, but I also understand that those that get to the good stuff first are entitled to purchase it. Race really does not matter. If I see people getting a bunch of good stuff at these sales then I'll show up earlier and get a better place in line so I can have a better chance at getting something.

Must be the going rate for these things. I just picked up one myself this weekend for that price (actually marked $1.91)...with manual and fake denim case. L'ensemble:

Today, though...some SNES games. All boxed with no manuals, $6.99 each:

    Donkey Kong Country
    Donkey Kong Country 2
    Chuck Rock
    Super Adventure Island
And the Nintendo-branded SNES cleaning cart:

For the record, I didn't find your original comment offensive in the least, and I understood what you meant.

I know several people (mostly Mexicans, but there are a few Americans doing the same there too!) who go to the US flea markets and buy musical equipment (or computer stuff) for cheap and then resell it at a huge profit, either locally or in Mexico. It's basically what I do, but it's at a whole other level of investment, so to speak.

I have finds, but I'll post them later. I need to replace my camera's batteries.

I know that I've had a couple of yard sales myself, as well as the neighborhood garage sales, and there are many mexican people who come to the sales. There are also a ton of white people, and a TON of indian (as in "India") people as well. There's one Mexican guy who every time asks "do you have any broken electronics" and buys all our old cameras, vcr's, dvd players, stereos, whatever. He told us that he sends them to his brother in Mexico who fixes them and sells them for a huge profit. I say good job on that, as I'd rather they get reused than end up in a landfill.

I mentioned the gamecube games before, but didn't have a pic, so I threw them in this one.

All the rest were 4.99 each except Nascar, which was 1.99. Plus I had a 50% off one item coupon I used. This was all from a Goodwill I don't normally go to as it is farther away, but I was in the area for other reasons. Very happy to add Fallout 2 to the collection. It is new/sealed, too! Of course, I don't collect sealed, so if I find a CIB open copy this one will go for sale. I've now found 3 pairs of these Monkey Island games in the past month I think.

Anyone remember a movie with Mel Gibson where he is compelled to buy a copy of Catcher in the Rye from time to time? That's sort of how I feel with Diablo. It is just such a good game that I sank so much time into, it just seems wrong to leave it on the shelf. I have 5 jewel case copies in my trade box, and have managed to stop buying, but in the Big Box I just couldn't pass it up.

Great game. I have it and really enjoy it. Many other people still enjoy it as well. There are still huge online racing leagues devoted to it and 2 other compatible versions. You got a good deal in my opinion.
I collect for: Odyssey2, Atari 2600, Atari 5200, ColecoVision, NES, SNES, N64, SMS, Genesis, Dreamcast, PSX, and TI-99/4A

I'm pretty sure they're a '60s and '70s era band, before my time. I don't go for music CDs all that much in thrifts, but I've picked up a couple comedy CDs that people bought from the comedians hocking their wares in the lobby of the comedy club, and they're signed. It's always odd to have a CD signed, but to someone named Manuel, with the words "Keep laughing!" next to it. They gave the CD away to a thrift, so they aren't laughing any more. Apparently the original purchaser didn't care for it all that much.

They have a Wikipedia page so they must have some sort of fan base.

...And the band's keyboardist was born in Waco. Small world

I looked up the CD and the Japanese pressing of the same album is worth a lot of money. Too bad mine is just a regualar American release.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that I sometimes go for CDs based on their cover, especially if they're cheap. That's how I ended up with The Neverhood. The Little Feat CD has this neat picture of a tomato lady on the front.

Very nice. I've seen FZ-1's and FZ-10's but so far no Goldstars.

I usually leave behind autographed or monogrammed books and CDs. They feel... wrong. They were dedicated to someone else.

Anyway, yesterday's finds, just for reference purposes:

    And today's finds.

That lady that I've been buying Jazz CDs from the past few weeks brought yet another shipment of stuff... this time around she had lots of CDs by different artists. Lots of Steely Dan for some reason. There was a huge huge Pink Floyd boxset there... called Shine On. The CDs were gone! I almost cried... anyway I picked up a bunch of stuff from her:

This The Who set cost me $8, the DVDs were $2 each. I also picked up a copy of Windows ME Upgrade (in the second picture) for $2 and ten bubble mailers for $1.

This booth had a box with lots of manuals for Adobe software, but the CDs were nowhere to be found. She said there were still unopened boxes, so I'm hoping they'll be around tomorrow.

Windows 2000 Pro was $2. The box was trashed so I tossed it. The disc also had two keys printed on it (one was a regular disc, the other was a COA sticker from a PC). The comics and CDs were $5 total. Highlights include The Texas Chainsaw Samurai and its sequel, Samurai The 13th. (What?) One of the CDs was a driver disc for a game controller called Total Control. It was AWESOME for its time. You can see a demo video of the thing here (I ripped it from the CD.)

I think I get so excited that I'm finding anything other than common Atari releases that I totally forget what I already have in my collection.
I bought the VGT app a while back when it was at $1.99. Mainly because I was thinking "damn this checklist will be really handy." About two or three months go by and the update WITH the checklist function STILL hasn't come out. The prices are pretty far off as well on most stuff. Once the checklist feature is added it will be helpful, but until then its pretty mediocre.

Stopped by goodwill tonight and got some nice finds:

    - Tetris 2 SNES cart only $4
    - Sim Tower PC CIB $3 -- Really happy to find this, as I've been wanting to play this again for some reason lately.
    - Cranium (Board Game) $2 -- Only missing the blue piece, but otherwise complete.

I find it funny that Tetris 2 was double the price of Cranium. Board games are so cheap there, just sucks video games took a bit of a price jump. Either way, good day for me for $9!

Oh Lord, I actually have those Samurai comics. Check the credits, I think the artist who worked on at least one of them ended up being one of the founders of Image Comics if I recall. He was always embarrassed by his work on Solson's comics.

And you've got the Retro Gamer CD-ROM with the Konix Multi-System videos on it! Nice. I always wonder how well that console would have done if it had come out in 1989. Look at those videos and see how much more advanced it was over the other stuff on the market at the time, I.E. the NES, SMS, and Atari 7800.

There's a TON of live performances by this band up at the Internet Archive. I'm listening to them right now... and I'm very interested in them now.

    Today's haul:

    NES:
    Gumshoe (boxed)

    Genesis:
    ESWAT: City Under Siege (complete)
    Golden Axe (complete)

    PlayStation:
    Dare Devil Derby 3D (complete)
Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro (complete, GH)

    Gamecube:
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (disc in Blockbuster case)

$2.50 each, except for Sonic Adventure 2, which was free. It's pretty scratched up. If it works, I'll probably give it away to a friend (I've already got a complete copy).

I find it bizarre how the disc tray is the entire disc drive assembly. Kind of like the development model Dreamcast.

Another Gamestop, another B2G2 Xbox sale. From the EXTREMELY slim pickings I got:

    Commandos Strike Force (complete)
World War II Combat: Road to Berlin (complete)
Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogies Revenge (complete)
    Half-Life 2 (complete)

After B2G2 and stacked Edge discount, was just under $18.

Also picked up PuzzleQuest Galactrix new from Target on clearance for $7.48. Not really a "find", but a good deal anyway.
