What would this SFC controller be used on? The auction said that it was a NTT data controller. I notice that it had buttons with numbers on it in addition to the regular ones. Japan and Europe got all the cool stuff!

I swear there was an article about this years ago in SuperPlay mag. I definately remember seeing that pad.
Anyway, here's a threadf over on ASSEMbler, with pictures.
So we can use this crazy controller to bet on horses? I'd buy it.Originally Posted by 50TBRD

It went for a best offer of 20 bucks. I would have bought it just because it was different even if I could never ever use it.
I believe there was a home banking and stock trading program for the Super Famicom in Japan that actually used a modem to upload information. This controller was packed with it. I most likely do not have all of my facts correct, but i remember reading about this somewhere.
Might be thinking of the Famicom banking modem, Klausien.
There are a few models like this, some for the famicom and some for the Super Famicom:

That's the famicom network which was also used to place bets via modem on horse racing.
I have a similar one for sale now:

Mostly they were made for either banking or horse race betting.
