Everytime I play online, I see some players who seem to zip around faster than usual in a very jerky way. Are they cheaters? How can you spot cheaters?
What most of them do, is called snaking, which is constantly drifting to get the boost from it(basically). So some consider this cheating, while others do not. Depends on who you ask.

I don't think you can ever see the sparks from othe rplayer online. They're probably snaking. It's annoying, but not really "cheating" per se. It's just a very difficult technique built into the game ... like wave-dashing in SSBM or flag tossing in Halo 2.
