Default Questions About PS3 and PS2 HDTV Xploder Acc.

I just got my HDTV, And PS2 looks like crap on component. Should I get the HDTV Xploder Acc. For the PS2 to De interlace the signal, Or should I save the $40 for the PS3? I rarely ever use my PS2, And I don't think i'll use the PS3 a whole lot. I don't know when i'll buy the PS3, Either.

And does the PS3 upconvert the 480i/p Signal (From PS2 games) to 720p or 1080i?

As of now, the PS3 does not up convert. There are talks that they could release a software/firmware release that would allow it to do so but it will not be as good if they actually put the hardware in there to so.

I feel the games look better output from the PS3, but not much. And yeah I hope they add the upconversion, not just for games but for DVD's as well. Standard DVD's lokk horrible (compared to a HD-DVD players upconversion).

The PS3 has the hardware to do it and could do it through sheer processing powwer anyways so there is no reason they can't add it, and I suspect it's among the most requested additions (I think they audio output needs attention to, for TrueHD audio).

I think you need to hook up the PS2 to your new HDTV with S-video or even better, composite cables. "Looks like crap" will have a entirely new meaning.

It's amazing to me how so many people confuse "component cables" and "high definition". It's not like a set of cables is going to suddenly make 2000-era technology look all sharp and crisp on their new HDTV...but I digress.
