What games database do you use to catalog your collection?

I voted for IGN's but they definitely do not "have it all" as they are missing entries I had to put in manually on other entries in the public notes but only 1 or 2 of them, so not bad overall.

Up until the current, a few giant TXT files. I really should go the Mayhem route and make a spread sheet in OpenOffice.

Also, letter spacing in OO looks all funky and throws me off

I use MediaMan. It is similar to Game Collector, but I like it more. Nothing really online, but if you folks have not played with Game Collector or MediaMan, you really should.

I used IGN originally. But they took forever to update missing games if they actually did. Then it was just rediculously slow and etc etc. I kept updating the games i could for awhile though just because i thought it was cool to see how much IGN said it was worth lol.

Then i found RFGen which i have used since i found it.

Also dabbled with Cart Commander and Game Collector(or Collectorz...?)

Used DPs when it came out to try and gauge rarities but stopped.

Had my own spreadsheets, printouts and freewebs websites but also stopped using all of them.

I used to use Access, but as I am currently re-inventorying I am thinking of just using an Excel spreadsheet instead. I was already using an Excel spreadsheet as a stepping stone to my Access database (i.e. I would enter any new finds, sales, etc. into the spreadsheet as they happened and then update the database every once in a while). It was kind of a pain, and is even moreso now that I don't have Access on my computer at work.

I've started using RFGeneration. It's an excellent site and there's a good forum there as well. I'm definitely glad that so many mentioned it here in this thread since I hadn't a clue it existed previously.

If you have a Macintosh you best bet is a program called Delicious Library. It’s technically made for DVD but you can always add another library for what ever you want. If you have current generation stuff, it looks it up on Amazon. For older stuff you can scan in the cover and drop the image into the library. The other cool thing is you can transfer the files to your ipod as a data base. I highly recommend it.

ive just been using GameSpot.com they have everything i have so far, except some say they are released in japan only...

also use microsoft word, and notepad.

after seeing all the responses of RFGeneration, i have started adding in all my games there and so far 7 of my games arent in the database. and i dont know how to contribute to the database to put them in there.

Add away, just double check though as some titles are listed under the complete name. Example being any of the Tom Clancy games, its not listed as Splinter Cell, but Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell.

Yes, especially for Japanese games. Look for the common title and for the proper translation.

For online I use RF Generation of course (duh I'm co-founder). For my offline stuff I was using some RF Gen printable checklists until I got my PDA. Now I use Excel. For online trading I use RF Generation and http://www.tradegamesnow.com TGN is a decent site, easy to add games, and it's free unlike Game TZ.

I've been in a buying frenzy of late, and finally came to the realization that I desperate need to catalog these piles of games lying around. Because I'm starting a huge list from scratch, it would be helpful if the site made searching and adding games VERY quick and easy. Also a huge plus, if one is available, is a database that gives you details on the value of the game. And finally, since I collect for a few more obscure systems, it would be helpful if it wasn't missing whole gaps of games or systems.

Well i've just recently put my collection up on VGrebirth and found it really quick and easy. There doesn't seem to be a large amount of Euro stuff on there but if you are American then you'll be fine.
