Well, it was available at launch as far as I know. I'm pretty sure it was a pack-in game at one point, too. I can't confirm either off the top of my head since I ignored the 32X when it originally came out. But it isn't a surprise that you'd find 32X Doom anywhere and everywhere.
That is not a bad thing, since I like that version regardless of the cuts that were made.

Doom was a 32x pack in, thats why you see it floating around. If you still actually own a 32x go for it just don't pay more than $5.

Doom and that golf game are the most common 32X games in the wild.
I believe the top-selling 32x title was Star Wars Arcade, followed by DOOM.
You certainly do see DOOM all over the place.
