When ever they make these lists they should just put the entire SMS library down under one number.
Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, IT'S BACON!!!!
I don't see why ironsword is on there just because of fabio! He does take away from it but not much he was like todays Arnold
Hmm, an earlier list had Ninja Golf in #1... obviously going for 'bad' rather than 'so bad they're good', which actually makes a lot more sense when you think about it.
This quote from the page is classic:
"It's pretty obvious that the guy who designed the Megaman cover had never even played the game. Megaman is not some senior citizen with a yellow t-shirt." !
I always thought the Fabio one was not bad at all.
This list seems a little better than the other one.
I'm not sure what the game is but #8 is horrible
OMG, I laughed so hard after looking through that list ... thanks for the link!
A good list, but there are a few things I never get with these things:
1) Why does anyone always rag on Phalanx? I always thought that was a great cover, it's certainly bizarre, but you can't deny that it grabbed (or would have) grabbed ones attention back in the heyday of the SNES. The cover makes what would otherwise be a me-too game quite memorable.
2) Sega was obviously going for a theme with the SMS boxart early on. Yes, the foot does look rather strange, but it and all the other early SMS boxes are striking in my opinion. They're all so minimalist, and it adds to the charm of the system.

Welcome to Macintosh.
#14 The title that they chose not to use for this game was “Freddie Mercury Goes Nuts!”
That Donkey Kong cover is kinda interesting...trippy and surreal.
Possibility is infinity! You must be satisfied!

There were some okay ones. Spellcaster would have had a brilliant cover if the backdrop was black instead of the traditional SMS white-checkerboard BS. Zillion's cover art is actually really well done! The computer terminal represents a major part of the game, and the flat shapes complement blue gridlines in the rediculously overused SMS backdrop. Phantasy Star and Y's Book of Vanished Omens look pretty cool as well.

What's wrong with the Power Instinct cover?
I still think the blue-on-white gridlines are evocative of graph paper and math homework more than anything else.
