I'm gonna' go to the local Electronics Stop/Game Boutique and reserve my copy today.

I can't wait until this game comes out! I've waited a decade for it!

I found this very interesting. From an interview from George Broussard:

"Looks like we’re at 29 now, and we’ll probably be bringing on 1-2 more guys to help with Duke Nukem Forever in the near future. We like to keep it pretty lean and mean though. Once you get too many people, you lose the ability to communicate with them all directly and the place loses it’s personality. People start to feel more like “tools” than key employees and I don’t like the thought of that."

    AND

"Our typical schedule is 10 hour days arriving no later than noon. Most guys work 12+ hours a day and some weekend time as well. We all just love what we do, and if we’re not home, we’re at the office. It’s not like work. People that wanted to work 8 hour days and no weekends have come and gone through this company. This is a company of die-hards that live and breathe gaming. I never hardly have to ask anyone to work more. They just do by default."

    I guess the team wasn't 'die-hard enough.'

All I can say is I wanna work on this game. That's some job security right there, so long as I'm "die-hard" enough.

Nah, that's standard for the industry. Daikatana's team was pulling those sorts of hours as well.

Also, happy belated birthday, Duke Forever!

It's still the standard of the industry; if you can make a crap game (I actually played it recently, Undying isn't as good in comparison as I'd like) on those sorts of hours, you'd be hard pressed to make a better one with less dedication.

Well, if time spent making the game is directly proportional to its quality, then DNF is going to be the GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME.

It beats out "Battlecruiser 3000AD" (so far) by only 3 years.

I see how you tried to disguise the filename, but I downloaded it anyway. Well, the program was wonky and didn't do much before I had to shut it down. I saw it had something to do with Duke 3D, but that's about it.

Well played Ace. Nice to see someone who remember how LAME Duke once was.

Some of those levels in LameDuke were cooler than in the released game....there was a cool city level and I think th other standout was the oil tanker level. It's a shame the levels couldn't be ported.

I also used the jetpack sounds from LameDuke in Duke3D.

The oil tanker was used in the Atomic Edition on the ship level in the last episode (the last mission before the final boss? Don't remember, it was a long time ago)

If you touch the ground in the city level, the game crashes (actually the game crashes any time you look at the ground). Hit the jetpack button as soon as the level starts and you can fly around.

For best compatibility, go into the setup program and completely disable sound. That'll at least get it up and running...

There wasn't a whole lot of sound in the game to begin with.

I remember the "stripper" music being better too...but there were no actual strippers in the game.

I also seem to recall a level where you were on the top of a building and there was a "ship" flying around you. Alot of those early levels were bad, but there were some that were damn good.

I always liked city levels....much better than those vague levels in Doom.

It'd be even greater if the game came out and Duke wasn't a playable character for most of the game. Maybe he gets kidnapped in the first 10 minutes and you spend the rest of the game playing as someone else who has to rescue him.

Yeah, I loved LameDuke, Imperial Scouts and all. Somebody should port it to Duke...hmm...I know, I know; but you could still rip the art assets (I think I've looked through the GRP file before) and recreate the levels.

I'd want the levels more than anything. Port the levels and we can use the final games textures.

Its odd that Duke3D came with a programs to convert Doom levels for use in Duke, but there is no way to convert Lameduke levels.
