Default What are the most violent/bloody/gory NES/Famicom games?

The majority of NES (and a good chunk of the Famicom) games were squeaky clean. However - every once in a while a title slipped by the review board that featured good ole blood n' guts. Out of these, which do you think were the most violent, bloody, or gory?

here's my list so far (I'm not as keen on NES/Famicom as the SNES/SFC).

    Narc
    Chiller
    Sweet Home
Hokuto no Ken (the first one, only released in Japan)
Fist of the North Star (the sequel, released in America)
    Monster Party
    Bionic Commando

Anything else you guys can think of? No hacked roms, though.

If you are going to name Bionic Commando in a topic like this, you have to look for the original Japanese Famicom version, "Top Secret: Hitler's Revival".

Complete with swastikas and other stuff like that. Maybe not more gore, but definitely the true version compared to the censored Bionic Commando

I so love the classic Maniac Mansion code for NES, where you take the kids hamster, put it in the microwave and watched it explode in a bloody mess =) Of corse, they pulled those copies of it and replaced them with verisions that did not let you do that to the poor hamster but you can definitely still find uncensored verisions out in the wild.

Nothing too gory but, in Nobunaga's Ambition for the NES. You can hire a ninja to assassinate an enemy Daiymo. If you succeed, you'll be treated to a nice little animation of the leader sleeping. The ninja will appear, thrust a katana into his abdomen and wiggle it around.
That has to be one of my favorite bits from any NES game.

Yeah, I was just going to say G13. That sniper part in the beginning where you take the guy out in the top of the tower was pretty violent and I remember being blown away by that as a kid. Plus all the characters getting shot and killed during the cinemas were violently excessive too. The fuck scenes in the hotel with Cherry Grace was the perfect way to balance it all out though.

Fuck scene?? If you mean the scene where you see the shadows kissing then it's a long way from being a fuck scene.

Back then this was practically soft-core because there wasn't a console game at the time that even HINTED at the hero getting some action. It's insinuated that Duke and Cherry got their 8-Bit freak on and that was enough to make almost any early-pubescent boy giggle when the lights went out. And yes I was one of them, especially when Duke's life filled back up.

Back to the violent games-it's been a long time but I think Freedom Force was the first NES game I can recall seeing bone-fide blood. Granted it's not much-just a splotch on your target's chest, but it was an eye-opener back then.

Yeah, it was still a long way away from Panesian style porn but *it was* still a fuck scene.

I'm still amazed they Nintendo released Golgo 13 in the US....the sex, the violence, the smoking....it totally contradicts the image that they have as a company today.

Or contradicted what they were back then. They were pretty clean back then as well.

And managed to get a sequel as well (although the dequel has nothing on the original).

Even more odd was how Nintendo released it under the fake company of Vic Tokai.

I'd say Abadox was one of the more blood and gore related games we got in the states. I dont believe games were as censored in Japan as they were here. What with the number of edits made to Maniac Mansion, Bionic Comando, and others.

Huh? I know it was a Vic Tokai game, but Nintendo still put their seal of approval on it.

I was just reading the Wiki article on it and it said that Nintendo of America actually forced Vic Tokai to make some changes to Golgo 13. One was Duke's profession as Assassin to Spy. They also removed all Nazi references (had no idea DREK was supposed to be a new nazi regime) but it looks like the forgot to take a swastika out in one part.

Wonder if there's a translated version of the Famicom rom out there. I'd love to play that one.
