Default D&D Tactics - How is it?

Has anybody tried out the D&D Tactics release for the PSP? I've been wanting to play something similar to the old gold box SSI games and this appears to be the closest anybody has done in a long time. Is it worth the $40 to pick it up?

    The interface is ass.

Beyond that, it seems a decent enough game, assuming you have copies of the D&D PHB 3.5 around to reference.

If you aren't an existing D&D fan, I'd look for another tactical RPG. If you're already a D&D fan, you'll struggle through the menus but probably like the game hidden underneath just fine. It's just that it's nothing outstanding.
