    Default Websites for classic consoles

I think this is a question that is asked from time to time, so forgive me for repeating it.

What are some good websites dedicated to specific classic consoles?

I'm thinking of sites analogous to AtariAge (all Atari consoles), Sega-16 (Genesis), and PCEngineFX (TG-16). Ideally, such a site would have reviews, screenshots, hardware specs, active messageboard, etc.

I'm presently looking for sites for:
    NES
    SNES
    SMS
    Saturn
    N64
    PlayStation
    Dreamcast

    Any suggestions?

These days it's hard to find console-specific sites. Many game sites cover a multitude of systems. My site covers SNES and Saturn, with the major emphasis being on the former. My site has no message board though, and is review-heavy.

BTW, your site is pretty cool. I've been randomly popping in and out of it for years now... dating back to my Saturn hey-day in the early 00's. (I assume you are the owner)

If you mean www.videogamecritic.net, no, I'm not the owner, just a fan. I generally prefer his amature reviews to the over-hyped "professional" reviews found on the "mainstream" video game review sites. Also, The Video Game Critic reviews games for many classic systems, such as Intellivision, Colecovision, Vectrex, and Atari XEGS that have been all but forgotten among reviewers, even some of those of classic consoles.

If a site covers more than one console with depth, that is great too!

A few off the top of my head:

    Genesis:
    Sega-16

    SNES:
    SNES Central

    NES:
    Nintendo Player (aka NES Player)
    NES WORLD
    |tsr's NES Archive (|tsr abandoned the site ages ago so it's pretty outdated, but there's still some cool stuff to check out in there)

    Collection List | Twitter
Check out the new N64 Rumble Pak. See how it feels to feel what you see.

smspower.org & sega8bit.com should cover all your SMS needs. satakore.com is the best Saturn site I've seen.

There is (or was last time I checked) a PSX site that has been around since 94 or 94 with reviews from the begining of the system until 2000. The address was like vid-games.com or vidgames.com or something like that. It was a great site and had release dates for every PSX game.

Even more than Dave Z's defunct Saturn site? That was personally my favorite. I also like Yakumo's Segagagadomain site, been checking in and out random Saturn snippets since 2003 or so...

www.planetdreamcast.com is a good one. I'm happy to see it's still around. Even though DC is far from my favorite system, it's easy to appreciate such a nice site as that one is.

For specific hardware data, I would recommend DarkWatchers site (http://darkwatcher.psxfanatics.com/console/

For general information on the games and consoles, I would recommend RF Generation (http://www.rfgeneration.com/)

    For the Sega Master System:

    http://www.alexkidd.com

That site has an index for every game with tons of gamer reviews (and the ability to add reviews yourself). It also wins, hands down, for best vintage layout around!

    For the Sega Saturn:

    http://www.saturnleague.com

Great forum for people who *still* want to NetLink. I've had a lot of successful NetLink games from there, and there are some great posts about the Saturn in general, as well as X-band revival projects and the Dreamcast online.

    http://www.scoreattack.net

The best place for active NiGHTS fans, where you can post your high scores, get tips on lap by lap strategy and see videos and pictures of the world records. There's also a great forum there, too.

I've discovered www.nintendoage.com is great for NES, especially for collectors as it has a complete guide listing variations, etc. It just started a free e-zine that is quite informative and well written, and seems to have a pretty active forum community. It is also the home community of bunnyboy, the mastermind behind the PowerPak flash cart for playing ROMs on your NES.

www.nintendocommunity.net looks like a promising messageboard for discussion of all things Nintendo (it was formerly dedicated to Zelda)

It's nowhere near complete, but it's still a good site (and a bit of a plug since I'm a contributing reviewer and I run its sister site, http://www.wiimcast.com, which currently reviews Wii Virtual Console games, but will later review Wii games and import Dreamcast games)...

I know the guy on dreamondc... benstylus. Good guy. He and I posted at SegaFans often "back in the day." He's got a nice site there, shame though updates are not more common.

planet dreamcast is one of the nicest ones, but it hasn't gotten any updates in years. DreamOn seems rather quiet, dcemu turned multi-system years ago, dreamcast-scene is more about development and news.

I'd love to see something like planet-dreamcast or sega-16 done for dreamcast, and another done for saturn.
    edit"
Oh and dreamcast history has been super-quiet as well.
