The line there is admittedly a little wobbly. I go more by the system than the games - post crash games on pre crash systems get lumped into the same category as the pre crash games. I also differentiate between commercial releases and homebrews, so I don't count modern 2600 homebrews as classic games despite being on a classic system.
I also stick the 7800 in the classic category, as even though it was released post crash (discounting the few that slipped out during the crash), it was clearly a product of the pre crash industry. After reading the preview in Electronic Games in '84 I spent the next 2 years searching for the 7800 in stores and wondering why there was this silly Nintendo stuff there instead. Though it wound up being a contemporary of the NES and SMS, the 7800 clearly was not their peer.
Speaking of Nintendo, despite the Famicom technically being released pre crash, I don't consider it classic. It was the US industry that crashed, and what was happening in the console market in Japan didn't impact the US, or really, the rest of the world yet (obviously this would eventually change).
Were is the love for Earthbound why am I only one of like four people who voted?
I would say easily SMB, halo is hardly a classic yet, maybe in about 5 years we can call it that, but to me most classics are 2d.
www.MoorGames.com - Buy/Sell/Trade New & Used Video Games. Great place to deal with.
For a modern-day gamer that plays nothing but new games, Halo could possibly be considered "classic". Now as a collector of older games, I dont consider Halo classic. But even if you do consider Halo classic, then for the poll you should have games that are roughly same age. The poll just seems to jump around from NES, SNES then Xbox.
Anywho im not trying to flame anyone. However, I voted for Link to the Past.
it has to be smb , because alot of people started playing video games because of that one single game
I voted for ZELDA:LTTP. Its the only zelda game I really liked...
