This appears mint and certainly not seen any rental use. I really do not need the case, and thought about selling it, but I have no clue what to ask for this.

I'm not sure what it's worth - but when I was a kid, I worked in a local mom & pop video rental store.
Every month they'd get a wholesale catalog of "video rental" merchandise for video stores. The catalog would sell things like BULK sets of clear plastic VHS snap-cases, retail packs of microwave popcorn, sell-through bottles of VCR Head Cleaner Fluid, and SINGLE items like plastic suitcases for renting VCR's or the NES system rental case pictured.
Of course, renting a system like an NES was tricky business, since renters were required to leave the total cost of the system as collateral. Most people wouldn't want to free up $150 on their credit card just to have an NES for a weekend, even if we WOULD refund it when we got the system back.
Best to know when formulating a price that the item was never really available in a standard capacity to the general public. The smooth blank area on the front of the case is where the video store would place a silver foil sticker with the store info that would leave those nasty "void" marks if removed.
