Default Remember how much carts used to cost?

Does anyone remember the sky-high prices of carts in the mid-90's? Virtua Racer retailed at 99.99 (more than the Genny itself), and I remember buying FF3 at Babbages for $85! On a related note, as someone being too young to remember, what did 2600/Intellivision games retail for back in the day?

I remember my friend Pete getting Phantasy Star IV brand new for $99.99 as well. Still.... a hundred well spent.

Oh yeah, I remember. I bought Street Fighter II (SNES) the week it came out for $89.99 and it was totally worth it. Me and my friends spent hours playing that in the arcades, so having an near perfect conversion for home was amazing. Also remember getting Revenge of Shinobi ($79.95) and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts ($69.95) for Genesis.

Don't remember what the most 2600 carts cost new though. My mom was the one that bought all of mine so I wouldn't know. I think $29.95 was the average price for a new 2600 cart back in the day.

I remember going to my local store and buying Earthworm Jim (SNES) for about $86.00 total. I think about the price now and I think it's crazy but I played that game so damn much.

I remember seeing Street Fighter 2 for SNES brand new in a used game store when it came out and it said $80, cash only.

I bought Final Fantasy 2 for 69.99, and I still have the receipt...

I got Flashback the day it came out for either £55 or £60 ($90?) You would not believe how much time i played that game for though.
I also spent like £45 - £55 on most new N64 games back when it first came out..which does seem just a little excessive now I look back on it.

I still have the reciept from Best Buy from 7/12/95 for SNES Final Fantasy 3.
Total with tax was $73.65- worth every penny.

I also bought Chrono Trigger brand new back then for @$70.

wow.. those prices are high.... i think the most i ever saw a game for at toys r us back then was 79.99 and those were the crazy games, like phantasy star 2 and street fighter...
i have probably 15 atari 2600 games (plus many more 800 computer carts) from when i was a kid with price tags of .99 and 1.99 ... now those were some good buys.

Ahh the good old days of paying $50+ for nes and snes carts, and some genesis carts too. I kinda miss it but kinda don't. Least most games now are $50 or under except for newer titles.

    Haha...

My gosh, those are crazy prices. I guess it does make sense, now, since I've noticed some really crazy prices in Yen on some of the stuff I've gotten, but eh...

Well, Kaine, if you kinda miss paying up to $100 for a new game, you just order all the new games you're interested in from me and I promise I won't charge you less than $50 for any of them. That way you can get all nostalgic and play new games at the same time.

I remember when I was young buying my first NES games at TRU for only twenty bucks, the highest game I remember was DK64 with the expansion pack for $80 or so. Games used to be high, but I remember buying them low (then again, the NES finally went when I was only 7 or so).
