The Square Enix X Tri-Ace at the beginning made me think of it like a hentai doujin description.
Poor Tri-Ace.
I want the game anyway
Looks awesome. I loved all three SO games (I actually liked the third one the most, despite all the hate it gets), so I'm sure this one will be great as well. Can't wait for more info.
Glad to hear the game is in the works, but that was a pretty dull trailer. Still added to the want list.
Back when Star Ocean 3 first came out in Japan, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone who didn't think Star Ocean 3 was the best Star Ocean ever and the best thing since sliced bread. :P The few vocal haters came much later.
Anyway, the system still isn't specified. It's only FMV, so there's really no telling what hardware it's on (although PS3 would be my best guess). The FMV looks pretty (maybe a little too generic, like a sci-fi Final Fantasy), but it's too bad that it doesn't really tell us anything that wasn't already known. They released screen shots from this movie sequence a long time ago, so all we're getting is the full thing. I guess we'll have to wait longer to get any idea of what it looks like in-game and how it'll play.
Now I just hope that the other trailers from the promo disc with Star Ocean: Second Evolution get uploaded. I really want to see the one for the new Valkyrie Profile.
This is like the first reason I have to maybe get a PS3. I don't really have the money for it, but I love Star Ocean. This is going to be a dilemma.
I just hope they ditch the whole "the universe is just a computer program" story angle, because I really thought that was a terrible plot turn. Let's just pretend all Star Ocean games take place in reality. And yeah, SO2 was better than SO3, to me anyway. I enjoyed all three, but the second one is my favorite.
If memory serves, Star Ocean 4 takes place long before even the first Star Ocean, so I don't see why they'd have any reason to get into that 4D stuff at all. And, yeah, it was a pretty lame plot twist. It was bad for the game as a whole since after it just about all you did was explore super generic looking high-tech places. I mean, a lot of people whine about the fantasy settings, but even the most cliche examples of those were still more interesting looking than those sci-fi towns and dungeons.
Where did they announce it was for PS3? It didn't say in the trailer.
