Broken DS (please help)

Hey my DS's L button is broken. When i press it it just doesnt work. Any suggestions?

I don't recall if the DS uses push switches or contact pads.

If it's a contact pad, I'd suggest opening the DS and giving it a cleaning. If it's a push switch you could get a new one and solder it in place. The push switch used in the GBA are fairly common so if the DS uses the same ones it'll be easy to find a replacement.

I would try cleaning around the button first. If that doesn't work, I'd call Nintendo. If you tell them the ds itself is acting up, you may be able to get them to replace or fix it. A long shot, but worth a try. Also, if you have the receipt, it may still be under warranty.

Also, is the hinge cracked? I have heard that can also be the cause of the problem. I believe Nintendo was fixing that free of charge?

I get this at least once a week at the DP store. You need to take it apart and clean the button on the inside with some alcohol.
