Default quite a simple question :D

i was thinking about getting a 360 arcade, but my question is, it says it needs 128mb storage for xbox live. so would i be able to use xbox live with a 256mb card if i just use live for my gamertag, playing on live obviously, and game saves

will this be enough memory for the 256mb memory unit to handle??

    thanks

Current Arcade models actually have memory built into them, because they need it for the NXE dashboard. A memory card would be just fine for saves and such, as long as you don't care about downloading XBLA titles and demos, etc.

You won't be able to go on Xbox Live unless you have at least a 20GB hard drive.

The new Arcade units are built with enough memory for NXE.

128mb isn't a lot of room left over for your profile and many saves, anyways.

Just buy the arcade one , and craigslist yourself a 20g hard drive. (or pawn shop one)

I'd put the money towards a used 20 gig, like several others have already mentioned. Trust us, it's worth it, especially if you ever plan on getting into the XBLA aspect of owning a 360 or checking out game demos. You could also install the game you're currently playing to put less wear on the dvd drive, too. Far less noisy as well.

If you go to buy a memory card you're going to end up probably getting a 512, and it'll cost you +/- 50 bucks. You can get a 20GB HD from MS for 20+ shipping. I'd look into going that route. Heck, once I transfer my stuff to my bigger HD i'll have a 20GB that i'll have to get rid of and I know i'm not the only one here on DP in that situation.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

    Yes...Jesus Christ

Were just letting you know that your wasting money and it would be stupid not to get a hard drive.

Heh, that comment made me lol

He's right though - there is a difference between can I do it and should I do it.

Can you use a memory card? Yes
Should you use a memory card? No

    End of story.

FYI: The 120 gig Elite is going down to $349.99 and the 60 gig pro is going down to $249.99 in April. That's only $50 more than an 360 Arcade (+HD cables, headset, and HD). It may pay to wait a bit.
