Default Mega Man X3 PC or PSX

Are there graphical enhancements to these versions over the SNES version? I might be interested in picking up the X3 import for PSX if they did so. If it's the same, I might not bother. I know I am normally against 'upgrades' done to games, but none of these games require batteries (if they did, I would buy), plus they are on cartridge format which will outlast optical units like PSX, Saturn, etc. If they are the same (I think I've seen those Mega Man NES reissues on PSX and they were identical as far as I remember).

    Thanks.

I got the game burned for my playstation, and got the snes rom myself. The psx version seems better though that may be due to the snes emulated version not being equal to the original.

Both the PC and PSX versions have enhanced, 'remixed' music of the MMX3 tunes, and animated cutscenes for all of the bosses in addition to a few other scenes. They all play the same, essentially.

I've heard but can't confirm that the PSX version's video of the cutscenes is a slightly better quality than the PC, but the PC version is going to be cheaper and easier to find.

I got the PC game a week before the SNES rom could be emulated proper.

EDIT: Oh yeah, you have the option of using a password or saving the game to hard disk/memory card.

If I'm not mistaken, the NES Mega Man reissues had some remixed music as well (though it might only have been available in a special mode).

You are talking about the original compared to a new rerelease cart? If so I bet the first is kind of on the rare side right now, and a good collectable.

No, I was referring to the NES Mega Man reissues on the PSX.

Personally i think the PC version rocks the casbah. That could have something to do with the fact that I have a r0><0r Dolby Digital 5.1 setup connected to my PC but not my PS2.

Agreed, I'm quite fond of my copy as well. Only thing that I wonder about is whether it will play well on future iterations of Windows, I recall some issues with Sonic CD on WinXp / 2000.

Those old Mega Man PC games....MM3 was one of them. They werent' anything like the NES games...but had same titles. Are those still compatible? I had a friend who had those.

If not, someone lead me to the ROM's...

You can still play those, but you'll need to find software that slows down the timer or they'll be way too fast to even try playing. They were originally made for the Tandy and whatnot.

Incidentally, I suggest you avoid the two (1 and 3) entirely, they were just bad, bad, bad. If you still insist, a web search might turn them up in downloadable form.

I even heard different versions exist that were released commercially, like a v1.0 and 1.2, etc. I've got the original disk to the first one and I believe they're pretty rare, shame the lack of demand doesn't indicate that.

I thought the only issue there was that Sonic CD insisted on being run in 256 color mode. Such a limitation is unlikely to recurr, I think. (The Sega CD version under Gens actually has much better loading times, actually.)

Anyway, there are indeed some thoroughly awful Mega Man games for the PC. They're available at Underdogs, actually.

It won't install on Win 2000, I believe.

PC Sonic CD wasn't stellar, it's actually missing a level that the Sega CD version has, but the movie files are of a better quality and the intro scene is unedited unlike the domestic Sega CD release.

Missing a level? This is news. Which level, the one you can access from the sound test?

My mistake, the PC version apparently has a different sound test scheme to reach it.
