Does anyone know what glitch was exploited or what Game Genie code was used to do this? Google is not my friend on this.

The moral is, don't **** with Uncle Tim when he's been drinking!
Hey dude.
That's a TAS (Tool Assisted Speedrun) fo' sho'.
It's not cheating per se (no Game Genie), but it's not humanly possible. It would've been done frame by frame on an emulator.
I'm not sure about this specific one, but many similar videos can be found here, with notes explaining how they were done. tasvideos.org
Hmmm, even TASs have explanations, whether luck manipulation, death shortcuts, etc., but even on an emulator at frame by frame, how did he pass through the floor? This one isn't on that TAS site...I already checked!

many of those super fast ones involve pressing up and down or left and right at the same time (does wierd stuff in zelda 2 and megman for example)
That's nuts! I love that game, too. I'd love to figure you how they did that.
...strange. TAS are always interesting but still don't count haha
Exploiting glitches is ok, but using tools or GG codes is lame.
Howdy again rbudrick!
I haven't been able to find this video on any TAS site, even though it beats all current records. (5-6 minutes versus 35 seconds)
So I have come to the following conclusions:
-The user's other videos are of his own romhacks; it is most likely a hacked rom with modified movement code.
-This means it cannot actually be considered a TAS.
-This is a VERY ANGRY smiley it should be called a SCOWLEY!!
Heh, the title of this topic should be "You Just Fucking Won". :P
Listen to "SPLUNK!", the Spelunker remix project, if you have no flippin' clue what I'm talking about:
http://spelunker.olremix.org/
lol! I always thought the game had fantastic music. There's not many tunes on the NES that can match the complexity of the title screen theme. When I was a little kid I held a tape recorder up to the TV speaker and recorded all the Spelunker tunes and I'd jam out to it on my walkman on long car rides with my unbearable parents.. No wonder I never got laid in high school.
Anyway, given my history with the Spelunker tunes, that website warmed my heart.
Oooh, interesting observation, PmP. I'd love to know what he did to hack it because from what I understand, no one has passed the sixth quest because no one has been able to find the keys. If I knew what the hack was, I could see what happens when you finish the sixth quest, which might actually be an impossibility ala Impossible Mission.

I just watched what took me and my cousin 8 hours... take 35 seconds.
Something is rotten and it ain't even in Denmark!
Hey, at least you were able to do it in 8 hours. I can't seem to master jumping from the ropes. If it weren't for that, I'd have no problems with this game. It seems entirely random whether or not he really decides to jump from the rope (or ladder) or just fall to his death. ARGH.
