Default NEW CD32s on eBay, about $110 shipped from China!

This looks like a steal for the CD32 enthusiast. Items are being marketed as "new." I'm not sure if they offer a discount on multiple machines. I'm going to buy at least one - if nothing else it's a nice near-A1200 machine for the NTSC region.

Those have been on sale on eBay for years, but they have gotten down near $100 lately.

I'd wait it out unless you really want one, they will only get lower. They have thousands, since Commodore never paid for them before they went out of business.

    Yep, good advice.

Also, Ceph of 2dgaming.net reminds me that most CD32 software is PAL format, and this isn't set up natively for PAL (you can apparently change that with a switch - hold down two buttons on the controller plugged into port two on boot) so it could get hairy.

That's a pretty good price, but honestly, I don't trust anything on ebay coming out of China, since 99.99999% of items sold from there are bootleg.

    Can't possibly be.

Also, it's probable these will drop even further in price, and as they apparently have thousands of them, it's worth sitting on these unless you have a dying need for one.

Could anyone truly have a dying need for one?

Your post piqued my interest, but then I did a little research on the actual games. I'm not sure there is anything on there that I would actually want to play that can't be had on another console or PC. Maybe Pirates! Gold, but is there anything else worthwhile? I'm not very familiar with the Amiga and even less so with CD32.

Apparently it's more or less an Amiga A1200, but, and this is a big one - you'll really need a PAL display and games to get the most out of it.

In this modern age, it's probably possible to find a PAL LCD monitor and certainly any Euro games you might like (but like you I haven't much of a clue what they may be) should play with the PAL-booting trick I mentioned.

So yeahl...hey, it's only $100, be a guinea pig for us! For Science!

Do a search for the Indivision CD32 on ebay. It's an add on card that can give the CD32 (or Amiga 4000) a VGA port. I believe it will take care of most of the PAL related display issues, but there are a few PAL games that won't run at all on an NTSC CD32. Most will run fine though.

Yeesh, that thing costs more than the system will. About 50% more. Not that I wasn't expecting it to.

On the plus side it looks like you've steered us towards a modern flicker-fix unit for the CD32, many thanks.

Edit: That said, it's probably a better idea to use it on an A1200, unless you REALLY enjoy your CD32 for the games on it...
