Picked up a copy of North and South (loose) for the NES over the weekend (Goodwill $1.49). The guide shows it as R4 $20 - is this accurate.
Also, anyone needs it drop me a PM...

about a year or two ago i sold a complete copy for about 25, so 20 is about right probably.
Autobots. Roll out.
I'd say it's worth about $10 or $10-15ish cart only on eBay.

eBay -is- the way to find the value. Rarely will you find people paying MORE than eBay and when it comes to inflated prices, that's usually on rare things that there aren't 30 listed at once.
No, it isn't a $20 game. Probably was at one time, but most NES games have dropped in price (except for the very rare/valuable titles, but even some of them have slipped a little, eg Snow Bros, Bubble Bobble 2). Any guide such as this is going to be outdated as soon as its compiled.
This is kinda what I figured and the basis for my original question. Thanks!
I hadn't ever seen this game "in tha wilds" and figured for $1.49 it wasn't a bad deal. I don't collect for the NES, so I don't really need to keep it. I figured if someone here was looking for it for their collection, I would part with it on the cheap either way.
Thanks again...

Yeah, I have R6's that aren't going for $20 on ebay right now. Also since when are ebay prices over-inflated compared to most classic game stores? Ebay pricing is exactly what most consumers are willing to pay for classic games. I always look at a variety of completed auctions of an item I have, to gauge an appropriate price. The DP Rarity database is not updated often enough to be used as a price guide, mostly because it can't keep up with a constantly fluctuated market.
Good points on eBay, I haven't really kept up the last couple of years. I agree on most classic game stores - especially the ones I have been in around Phoenix. And I realize the DP guide is a bit dated, hence my asking if the $20 was true value.
I figured on offering it for like $5 plus shipping if anyone was interested. I figure that is fair.
Thanks again to all for your positive comments and for reminding me why DP is my favorite classic gaming site...

Its worth between $10-$12.00 with a good label.......
I've actually gotten this game twice "in the wild" but it definitely doesn't pop up that often. (I'm also blessed with a great Craigslist.)
This one doesn't show up very often..faire price
Oh eBay! you are such a pain, I am addicted to you like crack cocaine. You offer things I cannot find in stores,You are the pimp, and we are all your whores.
