We all saw that top spot coming...but I'd be lying if I didn't say that I forgot there was a Pole Position cartoon.

    No Battletoads? What the hell?

And they forgot the Street Fighter cartoon! What about the episode where Chun-Li falls in love with a barbarian warrior-king from another dimension? The ending had me in tears.

Actually, I seem to recall a pretty good Dragon Warrior cartoon that was briefly on the air in the late '80s and early '90s. Anyone else remember that?

I sure's as hell didn't. The Pac-Man cartoon ran for several seasons due to it's popularity, whereas SMB may have run two seasons. Maybe. Pac-Man was huge for ABC mornings. I swore that was gonna get the top spot.

Nice to see Saturday Supercade get its due. And THAT was Mario's first animated appearance (as part of the Donkey Kong cartoon).

I'd give my kingdom for an official DVD-set of that Dragon's Lair cartoon. That was the shit.

Fun fact: that Dragon Warrior cartoon was actually produced by Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball Z fame. Despite this, it lasted for a year, maybe two at best in the United States.

Watch for 'em on eBay. There are all kinds of sellers who dump 80s cartoons to DVD and then sell 'em on eBay until Safeharbor catches them. That's how I got mine. And, no, I can't make a copy (no recorder).

As I said, just watch for either that or any other cartoon series dumped on DVD (Transformers, Thundercats, GI Joe, etc.) then e-mail the seller and find out if he/she has that too.

It will never really happen.I asked Don Bluth himself he said not soon at least. He doesn;t fully own teh rights to it.

Fun fact #2: The Dragon Warrior cartoon actually ran for a 2nd season in japan. You can usually find DVDs or VHS of it on ebay. Hmm, maybe I'll look for that at the con this weekend..

Battletoads was sweet, but it was only one episode. I actually own the VHS tape of it, and it took me 3 tries to get a good one. The first had a broken tape inside, the 2nd had a blank tape, and the 3rd was good.

Where was Quality Control on THAT one?

I've heard people talk about Dragon Warrior but I never actually saw it. It can never hold the charm of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show :P

Usually, though, those are VCDs rather than DVDs. VCDs can be copied by most CD recorders.

True enough. But more and more dealers are doing the DVD-R thing rather than the cheap-o VCD. At least, MINE are DVDs.

Okay. As kid in the 80's I do have to protest that the following were not listed

-Video Power (come on guys! It had kwirk and Kuros. they rock)
-Super Mario Bros 3. I loved those zany koopa kids.. sigh.. lemmy what will you get into next....
-Super Mario World. The Debut of YOSHI !
-Earthworm Jim. (I'm kidding) I personally didnt like that one...

My favorite TV-Cartoon episode ever has to be "Pac- Christmas" I loved it!!

So it is....I looked right at it..I guess I don't recognize 'Saturday Supercade' as the title. Was that really the official title of the show? I remember it as Captain N. Maybe I'm getting a new strain of Alzheimers

They're waaay different shows. In fact, Saturday Supercade is itself a collection of different cartoons. Captain N just lumped a bunch of different characters into one show, but Saturday Supercade kept them all seperate... a wise move in my opinion.
I don't think Pole Position gets the credit it deserves. It's nothing like the video game but it still seemed really cool when I was a kid. It was released at the tail end of the video game craze and stuck around until 1985, when all the other video game series had been cancelled.

P.S. Here's a link you might appreciate, KidFenris. You can really see the Toriyama influence in the show.

I loved the Dragon Warrior show... I was pissed when the local station yanked it and replaced it with Captain Planet.
