I had many great years playing Mac games in the 1980's. Here are some of the games I used to play often.
Dark castle
Beyond dark castle
Zork I
Where in the world is carmen sandiego?
Ground zero
Continuum
Lode Runner
Dungeons and Dragons
Transylvania
Airborne
Heh. You're not thinking of running Linux, are you?
You might as well go with System 7.5.3, which you can download for free from Apple. Start with the System 7.5 Network Access boot floppy.
A few other games to consider:
System's Twilight
Captain Magneto
Little Pythagoras
"There is much pleasure to be gained from useless knowledge." --Bertrand Russel (attributed)
Dark Castle and The Manhole.
And the very first time I played Tetris was on a Mac Classic, back in 1987 - It was still virtually unknown in the US, for at least another 2 years.
The Lost Tribe on the IIGS
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?
i take it that its not so easy as i can use a 1.44mb pc floppy?
i missed all the floppy confusion growing up apperently 720, 800, dd 13...something, 1.44
i had an amiga 500 and a c64 as a kid and i knew nothing else. i didn't get a pc till 96 like 10 years later. hell i just assumed the 1.44 disks were the same the amiga used. i didn't even get into learning about the big evolution of the floppy till a few years ago when i started running into this stuff.

A Mac SE supports high-density disks, and there are no problems reading and writing high-density Macintosh-formatted floppies on a PC. (The problem is only with the double-density floppies.)
HFV Explorer should do the trick if you can't find anything else.

Spectre is a great Battlezone clone, as are its two sequels...
Anyone ever play Bolo?
Oh yes, quite nice, Bolo. There was nothing quite like it for the Mac Classic.

Hey, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have a PowerBook 5300cs. I honestly know nothing about Macs beyond how to emulate System 7.6 to play Pegasus Prime, so I'm kinda confused about what I could play on this thing. It's running System 7.6, has 24MB RAM, and a 500MB hard drive. It's also got a floppy drive. Is this too new to run anything that would be on floppy? Any way I can hook a CD drive up to it? What's a good game to test out on it? I honestly don't know where this thing stands compared to what's been mentioned in this thread so far, so please pardon my asking.
That will play most games, however, the really old Macintosh games may not run. If it was made after System 6 came out, it has a high probability of working (though no guarantees).
And as for the iMac floppy thing, they don't have built in floppy drives, but they can read them with an external floppy drive.

and this
Someone just bequeathed me a 1992 all-in-one mac running OS 7.2... so I guess I'll be checking the mac garden too now
One question though... where can one find a "CD Caddy"
(good thing it still has a floppy drive)

Holy crap. It's been a while.
