Went over to Toys R Us today with my 2 cousins to check out the B2G1F sale. Ran into one of my old managers from Gamestop while I was there and we caught up with each other. One of the cousins picked up Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Super Princess Peach, and Prinny: Can I Really Be the Hero? The other cousin didn't end up picking up anything. Since the sale is going on all week, he decided to come back on Tuesday when the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon comes out and get that as part of the sale (and probably Brutal Legend as well).

I found one of the items I wanted right away, the Munchables for Wii. It took me a decent amount of time to find two more titles to get with it. I picked up Soul Bubbles at first since it was only $10 but put it back as I didn't see anything else in that price range I wanted. I finally decided to grab Cooking Mama: Cook Off for Wii and 101 in 1 for DS.

We ventured over to the nearest Game Crazy to check their selection out and the place looked picked clean. The guy said that recent/new stock that came out within the last year was sent out to stores that were being kept open. I had hoped to come across Persona 4 but no luck.

I got myself a nice desk chair for $10. It'll replace the crappy one I have right now.

    But here's a story.

I was wandering around the flea market today and I noticed a really really awesome DVD Recorder / VHS deck combo set. They wanted $10, so I figured, what the hell, I'll take a chance, right?

Well, I went to another booth to see if they had anything new, and when I came back to buy the recorder... it was still there.

    But some massive douchebag put a giant speaker magnet on top of it. So the whole thing was now magnetized and completely unusable. I not only got angry but felt like punching the moron who did that, and who most likely was one of the people who were putting the stuff up in the booth. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH. ;_;

Today? You mean your flea market is open on mondays? If that was just a mistake or something then that's fine, but otherwise I wanna flea market open on monday!!!

Um, dude, the one I go to is open all week. The other one is open from Tuesday to Sunday, but there's not much of anything except on Wednesday.

    Sheesh.

Aw man, I wish mine was like that! The one I go to is only open Saturday and Sunday, with the latter being the much superior day to go and shop.

    Some interesting things today...

    The usual $0.25 tapes...
    Syberia II - $3.06
Metal Heart - $6 (one of those Russian RPGs that nobody's heard of)
Clone Wars on Blu-Ray (Sealed) - $4 at the library... (Is this worth watching or should I just flip it? My camera flash made it look awful, but it's got the holographic cover sleeve, and the case inside is still shrinkwrapped.)
Powered Antenna - $2.50 (maybe now I can pick up some HD stations...)
GlobeCast TV Box - $2 (Turns out it's for satellite, but there's supposedly lots of free channels. I don't have a satellite dish, but I saw one at another store for $5. My parents would never let me mount a dish (I've asked...), so is there any "substitute" for a dish?)

And the coolest thing was the untested Genesis Model 1 for $1. I couldn't find an AC or RF for it, but it certainly works fine. This one has the High Definition Graphics branding and the 9-pin EXT port on the back (anything cool that I could try with that?). It's kinda dirty, so I'll be washing it this afternoon.

This website helped me find some flea markets that are open throughout the week within a resonable drive (resonable to me is about an hour or two) and some that I didn't even know about right by me.

You don't have to mount it really, you just have to put it somewhere it will get clear view towards its transmissions. Put it on a block of wood from a local store.

    Nothing too special.

I would have been more specific but I was running a bootup virus scan on the computer I keep my game collection list on.

Today I went to the thrift where I saw a Zaxxon arcade cabinet for sale, and it's still there. I couldn't find an employee to ask for an extension cord to try it out, so I ended up buying loose copies of Donkey Kong Classics and Yoshi for the NES so I could ask the cashier if she could find someone to help me. But then I was in line with someone who used to shop at the store I work at and wanted to have a conversation about it with me, so I rang up and left quick. I hate small talk with strangers, it's too uncomfortable.

At the only GameXchange in the area now, I bought a few Sega CDs, complete (but with cracked cases): Pitfall-The Mayan Adventure ($2.95), Iron Helix ($3.95), and the 32X version of Corpse Killer ($1). I bought 32X Corpse Killer from a retro game store earlier this year, and they gave me the regular Sega CD version. I never bothered to take it back, though. I'm glad I could pick this one up for a buck. Poor Corpse Killer, it just don't get no respect.

Saturday was the last electronics flea market until next Spring and there was a lot out there. However the last show usually brings some of the higher priced dealers while everyone else wants to dump their lot before the season closes. Pictures are grouped randomly and are from different sellers.

First we have the reissue of the first five chapters of The Rocketeer for $0.50. Unlike the last copy I bought this one isn't signed but is in really good shape. Illustrated Encyclopedic Dictionary of Electronics was $3.00 and is a good reference from the 80's as I try to reteach myself things I knew ten years ago. Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the N64 for $10.00, a little high but I've really wanted to play it. DPDT toggles were $1.25 each.

It's really sad that the world no longer carries Dave Stevens' talent...

Atari Video Pinball was $3.00 and actually worked fine during testing, just needed some button cleaning. However I guess at one point the battery plug on this unit was reversed. Well, while I was putting it back together I put it back correctly and upon next powerup the burning smell entered the room. I think I killed it. Oh well, into the parts box... damn shame, it actually looked really good when I first tested it.

On the way out I came across a boxed Famicom...

The box itself is worn and stained on the front. The styro is in pretty good shape. It only came with the system with an odd RF cable rework on the RF box. Needless to say, the system doesn't output (I know of the channel differences) but that's not a problem since I'm just going to AV mod it anyway. Now the reason I shelled out the $25.00 for what I expected to be a broken Famicom in a worn box is this...

It has, what I believe to be, a full set of Famicom documentation in great shape. The insert sheets are a little folded up but the manual and the little manga book are in excellent condition. I probably won't keep the box or documentation but I may hang onto the Famicom after I AV mod it. (I already have a Twin Famicom so it would essentially be a travel console)

I went to visit my parents on Saturday and stopped at a yard sale and bought this book for $1.00...

It's pretty cool, has a lot of diagrams and information about the Bond universe...

Rule of thumb, always have an extension cord in your trunk or with you somehow when going to any place that may have arcade games for sale.

Plug a 2600 AC into that Video Pinball unit. I have a brown wood-grain one and that's how I use it.

Tried that after the battery mismatch, she's blown. I guess I can poke around with a meter when I have more time but that smell with these old TV consoles usually means game over.

On another note, would anyone here care to pop the RF shield off the underside of their Famicom and take a picture of it for me? I think that Famicom has some rework but it may be stock. Thanks!

    Yay, Mystical Ninja!

I've been trying like hell to get those for my fiancé for Christmas/birthday/whenever, and have had no luck.

    Have fun!

Took advantage of the Toys R Us deal and got Scribblenauts for $15.

Additionally, got an early birthday present from my cousin in the form of The Legendary Starfy.

You killed it! Mmm, I shouldn't be talking though... I killed my GameGear 2 years back.

I'm pimping my auctions twice in one day with this, but I have the SNES Mystical Ninja game for sale over on CTCW for what I think is a decent price.
