Then you shouldn't be getting a gamecube, since even with an older model, you'll have to blow a games worth of money to get the cables to use on the 5 games that support it.

Anyways... My kids are getting agamecube for xmas (I already have one) and pikmin 2, and mario kart DD are high on the list of games they need to get with it, so this is good news for me

No. I didn't say PROGRESSIVE SCAN. I want better luma/chroma separation..... Y-Cr-Cb (I think this is how it it is...not sure) is better than just Y-C. Same idea behind it as composite VS coaxial RF.....

Even worse, really. I figured you just needed to see metroid in HD.
The difference between s-video cables and component cables is virtually negligible if you ignore high def.

I notice a difference when using both on my DVD player...

I plan on getting a HDTV in a year or two.

    Guys, you're wrong.

Only a handful of Nintendo's first party GC releases have even topped 1 million in sales.

Games like Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and many others in the Players Choice lineup have most definately not topped 1 million in sales.

Take this for example from a recent IGN article.

"Super Mario Sunshine, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Mario Kart: Double Dash, and Super Smash Bros.: Melee represent the direct continuations of Nintendo's largest and most profitable franchises and are five of the best selling titles on the GameCube. One might even venture to say that they are the five best selling games for the Cube and, without hesitation, I would back that assumption. They are also likely to be the only games on the system (by any publisher) to sell over a million units in the United States."

Unless we're counting worldwide sales here, I rest my case.

Then stores need to lower MKD to $20 because it's still $40 everywhere and I don't want to pay that. Does that game have to be played two player or can it be played solo like the previous games.

Maybe they're right actually, but it has be worldwide sales being counted.

I was thinking it went by region, which doesn't make much sense now that I'm thinking about it.

I know I'm reviving a thread that has been dead for years, but I stumbled across this thread just now after doing a search for something else, and still thought I was correct.

After doing a few minutes of research, I easily found mentions of the correct criteria for becoming a Player's Choice title during this time period (Both before and after this thread discussion). It was 250,000 copies sold. Here is one such article from months before this thread ever took place.

I just knew there wasn't anyway that titles like Rampage were selling more than a million copies.

    http://games.ign.com/articles/453/453311p1.html

So from November 2002, a full two years prior to this discussion, here's the real numbers.

"The Nintendo GameCube version of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance sold 250,000 units, which qualified it for the Player's Choice standard. "
