protip: at one point in the homebrew, we had the bio force ape fight a copy of himself. The copy would always win, then you continue the game as the copy.
It was cut because the engine wasn't designed to handle 2 copies of the player character at the same time. I couldn't get it to work right.
aw, i missed the first half of the playthrough... caught the last level and ending.
my expectations were exceded greatly... i'm not going to be able to get that music out of my head all night.
... okay... now I want both XD

Damn, I only learned about this a few minutes past 6, and hour too late
Well, at least we know the ROM's dumped and is going to be released eventually

Seta is dead, long live Seta! (BFA, Thundercade, Musya, the Twin Eagle series - what's not to like?)
* Actually the lecture was pretty awesome and it was basically required anyway.
I want a lock on distribution rights for the sequel. Seriously though, I'll buy it.

Of the few people who i've pointed it out to, not one person had ever noticed paulb's "hidden subtext". Even this many years later, i've never heard anyone discuss it. What really makes this thread amazing is that it's still as true today as it was then.
The whole buttermonster and fart attack are amusing, but it's not even 10% of the lulz this thread delivers. The fact that the real game exists now just adds to the homebrew.
Make a sequel where Homebrew Ape fights Proto Ape!
*sigh* I missed the broadcast.
I don't suppose anyone recorded it?
RedEye's 1up article says it will be put up today(Wednesday) for download. The video I mean.
My, but 1up's search engine is obnoxious.

The game looks pretty good for an unfinished NES game. If it is real, I will buy it along with the Homebrew. Which one will be out first?

Oh my God, I'm watching the video...
"This is like a Blind Melon video gone evil!"
I had a feeling that the "real" game would be a smooth scroller, and it's surprisingly good. Still, I think the homebrew is going to end up being more "enjoyable."
Odd note: Can't they get the aspect ratio right?
