You could wait a bit and probably save $50 on the price if you can hold out until closer towards the end of the year.

For now, you are not likely to see a reduction in PS3 pricing until we get to around Christmas time, and see a launch of the PS3 and Xbox motion devices.

So, yes, now would be a good time. Myself, i'm waiting until there is another custom PS3 bundle, that has a different color or style of PS3. (I really hope we get a white version).

    1. Can't you get the 60gb repaired? The 20/60gb's are the best PS3's.

I know, but I don't want to get into some BS situation where I'm always waiting for it to die again. I've read online that even if you get it fixed it only lasts a few months.

    2. If you were playing it on a regular basis and you have a decent library of games ... at the very least it would be worth getting it repaired.

Yeah. I think you and jcalder kind of hit it on the head. I haven't really been playing it much lately. I've played FF13 and bioshock recently, but that's it. Maybe it makes sense to wait until Christmas and get a bundle or something.
I ended up getting a new PS3 after mine YLOD'd, I did a lot of research before hand and read several people saying that their PS3 failed again a few months down the line even after sending it to Sony for repairs. You could either sell your PS3 as is (there are plenty of people out there willing to buy and try to repair them), or send it into Sony for repair and then sell it.

As for getting a new one, that's entirely up to you. I have a growing BR discs and PS3 games, so getting a new one made sense for me. If you only have a few games and don't really use it that much, like others have said you might be better off waiting until they go on sale during the holiday. You could get a XBOX360 in the mean time, the new one looks pretty slick and you can also get the older models for a good price due to the recent price drop.

It's cheapest that way, and by then all the major kinks are worked out, and the games are all in the clearance bins at Gamestop for $3.99 each.

Meanwhile, play your Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo and be happy like the Village People.

EDIT: I just noticed Mobiusclimber pretty much said the same thing! haha, wow we must think alike!

That's why i mention the PS3 exclusive enough for it now to own one.Oh btw and don't give me the bs that it's too expensive either originaly it was was,but i think it's fair now.As for the 360 it has a good selection of games.Still i've avoided it...due to it's high failure rate though the recent "360 slim" is supose to be a better build from what i hear.

    nuff said.
