System Shock 1 & 2 (forgot 2 was like '98)
I'd put Deus Ex on that list but it's 2000.

Doom engine games (Doom/II, Heretic/Hexen, Strife)
Quake series
Build engine games (Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, etc.)
Goldeneye 007 (1997)
Half-Life and Counter-Strike
Unreal and Unreal Tournament
Marathon series
Others
