Dude what the F. Are they serious?
Looks like a decimal point error, as in remove one 9 and move the point one left. Those prices would look (relatively) reasonable.
"And the book says: 'We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us.'"
I can vouch for Buybacks' insanity. The location in Louisville, Kentucky had a complete copy of Silent Hill for $159.99. If these really are price errors, how could they be so widespread? This place also had Tales of The Abyss for $49.99 and both of ADV's Sailor Moon Uncut sets for $229.99 a piece. (Although I'm not sure if the latter was overpriced. I hear those are naturally expensive.)
In Heaven, everything is fine.
No these are not mistakes. I don't know for sure but it's something to do with the way their system calculates prices. I believe it uses ebay and amazon and such. This store also doesn't really specialize in retro games, they are more for movies and current gen stuff.
the carts are packed with coke. they gotta be.
I had a customer come into my store one day complaining that they saw Buybacks selling TMNT on NES (may have been TMNT 2) for $150. He asked why and the lady working there told him it was a really rare game.
I only need 2 more NES games (US)!
Buybacks prices are insane but I've never seen them this wrong. The only thing they are good for is extremely cheap retro games in the $1 to $2 range since if you bought them off ebay you would have to pay shipping. As for everything else, if I wanted to pay ebay prices, I would go to ebay.
Hmmmm I wonder can I trade in my Super Maro Kart at that place.
Those cartridges must be some kind of rare prototype version, looking at the prices.
So, are they using ebay's prices for FACTORY SEALED copies? That's the only thing I can think of..
Man oh man! I could see someone just starting to collect games like this, not researching prices, thinking that they are real rare and dropping the money for games like that! The pricing on these are INSANE!
What do you mean I have no life?? I'm a gamer! I have lots of lives!
Wow, and I thought that GameBuzz in Montreal were the kings of price gouging... they've got nothing on Buyback!
i think i am going to sell my super mario world to buybacks.
meoooooowers
Oh man I always get a kick out of Buyback's bat shit insane pricing system. I have seen the same thing at my local stores.
I went in one day and bought Silent Hill complete black label for the ps1 for $11. I came back a week later and they had another copy this time at $120. I pointed this out to the clerk and he was like "Yeah it's really rare!"
More recently they had two copies of MGS4 for the ps3. One was the expected $15 the other was $50. I showed it to a clerk and she double checked it and said the price was correct. They were right next to each other!
This occasionally works in the opposite way as I bought Legend of the Dragoon complete for like $8 at the same exact store.
