So many memories of waiting for consoles that never arrived. Sigh.
No matter what anyone thinks about the Atari Jaguar, you have to admit that the Jaguar Duo was a sweet console design.
The Konix Multi-System was a pretty promising chunk of technology. They were really thinking outside the proverbial box when they worked on that. Good hardware, and good early developers. But the owner of Konix wanted to keep it British, he didn't want the Americans to finance him (LucasArts was thinking about buying it). Japan is known for making weird games, but Britain made weird and more importantly fun games (just read any Retro Gamer magazine for proof). I can imagine it would have a fantastic library if it had come out and been a hit.
I can't imagine the Atari Cosmos ever being a big seller. All the games were built into the unit, you just switched out the holographic background. A small grid of red LEDs just doesn't give you much to work with for game design. This one would have flopped I think.
Which consoles do you think should have been added to this list? The Indrema is one that I don't think too many people noticed or cared about when it faded away. It was a Linux based machine, open source if I remember correctly. The problem was they attempted to get funding and release during the dot.com bust and the launches of the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube. They never stood a chance.
