Glad I have two PSP's and two different accounts. Forgot my log in information when I got my PSP 3000 and created a new account rather than just using the same one that I have on my 1000 and my PS3.
Going to come in handy it appears.
Hmm, this makes me wonder.
What if I create a new account? Sure, the account was not available before the hack (as it will be created, say today for instance). Will the second account get the same games and benefits? Like be able to download two free games for each console?
Or will it be a "wait and see"? Am I even able to create a new account?

So, the update is making older PS3s overheat?

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. that there is a new PS3 firmware, units that YLOD or have some other type of coincidental hardware failure get the firmware blamed on the hardware failure by the owners (and in this case Rockstar Games support?).
The likelihood of the firmware actually being the cause in any case of hardware failure such as overheating ... very very low, and AFAIK it's never been proven in any single case.
Early gen PS3s are all likely reaching similar thermal failure levels, and any correlation to a firmware update is purely coincidental.

hey..at least the update wont brick your shit like the new Xbox update.
This. Every time a PS3 YLOD's while a person was playing a game that was just release/they just got, even if it were something simple as Pac-Man, it's instantly blamed on that game. My 80gig YLOD'd on Rise of the Argonauts, but I don't go around blaming Codemasters, since it could just have just as easily been God of War 3 which (luckily enough) I never opened and was able to return to get my money back.
People just want to point the blame on Sony more than ever after the PSN debacle and while it is partially their fault for not even acknowledging the YLOD's existence, in most cases their firmware updates are hardly to blame. Sometimes I wonder how many of these occurrences are really caused by custom firmware and the updates are just used as a scapegoat by owners not wanting to admit they screwed up.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

Off topic, but

I actually think that's an awesome 360 update. If my old 20 GB version gets fried they'll give me a 250 gb slim? sign me up
Time to get my RROD'd 360 somehow up and running to see if it is one of them.
I know its off topic, but how do I update my 360? It doesn't do a mandatory update when I turn on the system. How do I being the update? Or hasn't it been released yet?

. I just tried on mine and HAD to install it or else I would be logged out of live. I have an older arcade model with a 20 GB HD and it seems to still be able to load games, which is good as I really didn't want the hassell of going through MS support services. Allthough it did take a long time for this particular update (around 8 minutes) to apply.
But yeah, it's been released, must of been this morning at the latest.
