Default the ballerina boss in Bonk's Revenge

I'm just wondering something guys: Is it actually possible to beat that lady without depending on after-death invincibility? That boss seems horribly broken--you can't touch her at all, even when you're in attack mode, without taking damage yourself even if you deal damage to her in the same motion. Seriously, all my fights against her, I only won by spamming hits while invincible. Something just doesn't seem right about this.

To be honest, Bonk's Revenge doesn't seem like its as good as Bonk's Adventure.

I was playing this like two weeks ago. I think you're supposed to stay on the right edge of the screen and jump when she comes near, but with a timing that keeps you from being hit by the other stuff on the screen. She eventually comes to a stop on her own and you can bonk her on the head when she's posing.

It's not completely easy to pull off, but you can do it enough to that you don't have to resort to spamming death invincibility. I guess I didn't try very hard but it didn't matter because I made it to the end of the game with a fairly decent amount of lives. It sucks if you don't have many lives going into the boss rush at the end though.

I think Bonk's Revenge is an amazing platformer, full of lots of detail and cool gimmicks. I have to agree that the level design isn't quite as good as Bonk's Adventure, though.

I decided that within minutes after I saw that they gimped the turbo spin.

It's been awhile since I've played through Bonk's Revenge, but I do remember that boss being something of a pain. After skipping through a playthrough on Youtube to that part of the game, yeah, that boss definitely sucks and I'd be willing to consider the fight broken. It may just be a question of trying to minimize your losses to consider it a win against her. Fortunately, by that part of Bonk's Revenge, a player should (in theory) have the extra lives to spare.

As for how the game compares to Adventure, it's a tough call for me. I prefer how Bonk's Adventure controls and the game is undeniably charming. On the other hand, the overall look and level design of Bonk's Revenge is slicker and more interesting. The predictable floret sprung arrangements in Bonk's Adventure are quite a boring element that gets repeated an awful lot.

That was my first warning sign. The second was how there was a bonus stage flower practically everywhere.

I agree the first game is better, although not because of the spin move. I actually don't mind it. I just like the level design more in the first one. It's more basic and simple. I find it more fun.

As for the ballerina, working from memory I don't recall having too much trouble with her, but I recall having to time your jumps very carefully.

Good lord, never before in a game have I been exhausted by the sheer abundance of bonus stages. I actually feel compelled to pass on them.

The music in the bonus stages is good though.

Isn't it the exact same music from the first Bonk?

I had the same reaction Drixxel did... after awhile I start just intentionally missing bonus flowers. Also on stage design, it may just be me but it seems like there are a lot of parts designed so that you suffer cheap hits.

Overall I just thought the first Bonk was more fun, even if it was a little repetitive. Makes me not even wanna try Bonk 3.

The trick as I remember it, was to keep walking against the left or right most side of the screen, jumping to hit the snowballs she releases now and again as she spins (And hope a snowball doesn't drop the same time she's in your corner).

You have to wait for her to stop fully for you to not take damage when she's hit. You can jump from the highest points of the slopes in the center of the area to nail her in the head when her back is to you.

When her leg is facing you, you have to move fast to jump up on her leg, then attack her head and bounce off and away as quick as possible. I rarely could ever get a hit on her without taking damage not making the quick hop to her leg first.

If it's the end fight, since you don't have the ice slopes, you just have to take it much, much slower if you don't want to get hit.

    Greatest goddamn game ever made

To this day, the change Hudson made to Bonk's spin still makes me sad.

I never really found Bonks Revenge to be all that challenging.Going by your comments,I think you were expecting to breeze right through the game. Of course any 2d platformer is going to have cheap hits, and require A little bit of skill to get by certain areas and stages. What were you expecting exactly?.And bitching about the way the character spins is really ticky tac .

Bonk 3 isn't that bad. I mean it sucks, but its better than a lot of other platformers. It just sucks compared to Bonks 1 and 2.
