Default Road Rash - Characters Named After?

    Hi,

How many of you here know of any information concerning the characters' names in the Road Rash series of bike racing games by Electronic Arts?

For example, in Road Rash 3: Tour de Force (1995), the character of Nina is named after that of Nina Stanley, who was once a graphic artist for Color Dreams (one of several companies whose NES games Nintendo did not approve). Several interviews are available about her, including this link:
    http://www.neswarpzone.com/stanley.html
    http://www.nesworld.com/stanley.php

(Trivia: Nina's father is none other than the '60s LSD guru A. Owsley "Bear" Stanley III (1935-2011). He had produced albums for the legendary jam/rock band Grateful Dead from 1967 to 1970, and spent the last 15 years of his life as a naturalized Australian citizen, before he died this March in an automobile accident.)

    Regards,

    Ben (ColecoFan1981)

I don't have anything to add about road rash names but did want to say thanks for the Nina Stanley interviews Very interesting history! I wish I'd have been able to jump into the video game industry in its infancy like she did.

And the info that I want pertaining to Road Rash would include the likes of Natasha (I wonder if her credit as "Lt. Tasha" in Road Rash: Jailbreak is a name-only nod to Denise Crosby's role of Lt. Tasha Yar on the 1987-94 TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation?), Bunker, Public Enemy No. 1, and others (I also wonder if Bolo, the gay biker from Road Rash 3, is a name-only nod to Chinese martial-artist Bolo Yeung?).

    BUMP

And regarding the portrait of Nina Stanley's likeness from RR3, the colors of that picture, I call it "Purple Haze" not because of the Jimi Hendrix song but because of the LSD-type drug made popular by Nina's own father (and which inspired the song, hence the title). That in turn could've meant the boys at EA could've somehow used bits and pieces of the Hendrix song in question.
