Question about xbox 360 online

I'm looking into getting an xbox 360 for just one particular game. I know that you have to pay to play games online but I don't want to play the game online I just want to get DLC. So the question is can I get DLC without paying for playing online?

As a silver member you should be able to buy content online, but you won't be able to go online and do any MP or the like.

I'll add that sometimes there is a delay for silver members for certain content. For example free game demos usually have a "gold exclusive" period of time before they become available to silver members, usually a week. Also, promotional pricing, like their "deal of the week" is usually for gold members only as well. Sucky, I know.

Used to be the first three (I think it was three) XBL accounts you make on each 360 system got a free month of Gold before reverting to Silver, do they still do that? In any event, if you only care about DLC for this one particular game, shouldn't be too much of a worry about not having Gold.

Keep in mind, many of the features besides online gaming do require Gold, like Netflix (this is in addition to Netflix's own charge), if you really only care about this one game it's no biggie, but just be aware.

Yea the DLC is all I'm worried about I don't do any online gaming and already have netflix through the wii.

What one game has you pondering on rather or not to get a 360?

I'm really interested in rocksmith, I thought about getting it for pc but I just can't imagine playing it where my desk is set up and I would need to upgrade the pc a little too. The only thing that was stopping me from getting the 360 for it was whether or not I had to pay to access DLC for it since I don't want to actually play online, only get the DLC.
