His basement setup is awesome! It makes me feel nostalgic. How many homes do you see anymore with wood paneling walls? Well I have it in my house but my house has not seen any changes since 1985. My point being the room he uses now puts me back into the time period even more. If he only had a shag rug that would be sweet.

I must be blind. I only just noticed that he changed living spaces.

If there's any problem I have with the nerd, its that sometimes when I've played a game he reviews, I feel like he's missing parts (in Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle he seems unaware that some enemies move in reaction to Bugs' moving), and in some reviews it seems less like "this game is hard" and more like "he's just not good at it." Silver Surfer in particular gave me this vibe.

I gotta say though that the only review of his I truly dislike is the Sega CD one. I mean, his other "whole console" reviews do a good job of explaining why the console isn't worth the effort, but the Sega CD actually had some awesome games, and he doesn't give any screentime to them. I mean I understand he can only review games he actually has, but in that case he should've just not dissed the system. It would be like if I reviewed ten bad SNES games and concluded that the whole system sucks. That works when its a system like the Virtual Boy which didn't have very many games, but not something like the Sega CD.

I still like his reviews, but they are hit and miss.

I always got the anti-SEGA vibe that a lot of hardcore Nintendo fans have from the AVGN.

    Yeah, I can imagine that.

I wish someone would invent a more Sega-centric version of the Nerd.

Alot of AVGN's angle is coming to terms and putting the final verdict in. He basically is justifying in his mind that he really didn't need a Sega CD as much as he thought he did as a child.

I myself, like alot of people here who mainly played the SNES/Genesis probably wanted a Sega CD but their parents wouldn't buy one for them because of the cost.

The FMV crap ruined the Sega CD's legacy, but what I wouldn't give to go back to 1994 with a fresh copy of Snatcher as a child

Yeah, and the worst thing about that is most people online (most likely too young to have been around during the time when these games were released) seem to take their cues about what's good and bad from what AVGN says.

Like on many of the Sega CD commercials on Youtube, most of the comments are stuff like "total fucking gar-bitch" riffing on what the Nerd said about it.

I really wish I had more Sega CD games, a DVD Recorder setup like what he has, good video editing software and shit like that, so I could do a counterpoint to his Sega CD review.

    Guess I better start saving.

Incidentally, just watched the Contra video and was kind of disappointed. I was hoping he'd do a rundown on the franchise like he did for Castlevania, but he just talked about how he beat the first one as a kid. I mean, it was kind of awesome to hear about how everyone in his house gathered to watch him win, but still.

There's not really a special reason, just no games in the franchise have "clicked" with me.

Fair enough. There are a good many iconic NES games that I feel the same way about.

Didn't see this posted, Bible Games 3:

    http://www.gametrailers.com/video/an...wattack/724633

A bit weak honestly, but considering how busy he is and how few bible games he had left to do I can't blame him too much.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?
