Smile Why I still game and my personal grail find this week

So I frequent this half price books near my house about twice a week. The person that does the video game area does it well. Once in awhile there are great clearance deals on psx games, and once in a great while they get some Turbografx stuff. So, last week I come wandering in and locked up in the high-buck case is a Turbo Express. Mint. $150. Tv tuner as well. Now I haven't geeked out about video games in awhile. The last time was when I found a Tengen Tetris and River City Ransom in the same stack of games at goodwill, and that was about 10 years ago. But I am fully geeking at this point. I am hoping that no one else will get it before I can ask the person behind the counter to pull it for me. All goes well and I am now the proud owner of a Turbo Express. I have had a copy of Super Star Soldier I have been wanting to play for quite awhile. In it goes. Let me tell you. Emulation is just not the same. The way the dish on the control pad is just how I remember it. Everything is good. This is why I game. This is why I collect. This is why I have been pulled back in. Over the last 3 years I have been slowly liquidating my collection and drifting away. I am back. Woooo-hoooo! Dodged a bullet. Not a literal one, a pixelated one flying towards my little star soldier. Is there any other kind?

Hate to be the negative one but I don't think that tv tuner is gonna do you much good anymore... besides looking awesome on a shelf...

Nice find... a day I could find one of these in ANY condition would be the greatest day ever! Emulation just doesn't cut it... nothing is ever as good as the original... good thing a lot of old games are so cheap, if doesn't even put a dent in my wallet to have the real deal! Welcome back, I as well have just reached the highest point of interest in classic games, and it feels great!

So, will you be hunting for a bunch of the gaming stuff you 'liquidated' or will your collecting focus on items you haven't had before? Some of my collecting of-the-moment is focused on stuff I already had, but sold during a lull. Congrats on the Turbo Express btw, I'm assuming it functions as it should, with no capacitor issues? I'd love to have one of those someday, but right now I can't oblige the going rate.

Very small stations, such as local religious ones, are still able to broadcast in analog. So he should be able to get a couple of stations depending on where he lives.

Now get a copy of Military Madness. It's all you need.

Cool find. I frequent three different Half-Price-Books and have yet to find anything nearly as cool. I usually settle for some older complete PC games.

Arrow Tv tuner has an input

Fm jack input. Wonder if I can really run the 6AA batteries down. Heh heh. As for trying to get the stuff I already sold...I don't think so. I am trying to focus on handhelds now. Mostly GBC/GBA/NGP/Turbografx. Also, no capacitor problems yet. I am totally paranoid, though, and have been leaving the volume control, alone. Now I need to get every SHMUP on HuCard. Got a good start with Super Star Soldier.

according to the employees the half priced books I know of is one of the most busy in the country.

Needless too say, I never find any deals there since they started using amazon to price things.

$15.00 for super mario bros. 3 when you have FIVE copies in stock?

    No thank you.

Congrats to the OP. I picked up a minty TurbroExpress from a Goodwill for $5 two years ago. Fun little machine.
