Ok, so I want to play Genesis on the go and have 2 options. 1. Buy a Sega Nomad and get the original gameplay. 2. Mod my PSP and get a Genesis emulator. I'm leaning towards the Nomad, so what do you think? Please help soon!

The Nomad is absolutely fantastic, it has the best of everything of it's time (awesome build, outstanding d-pad and buttons, great layout, good sound), the only part that has aged horribly is the display itself, the battery is also quite low. Compared to anything after GBA SP2 the screen looks quite bad (washed out, blurry and light leaks), but this can be remedied by changing the screen look up Sega Nomad lcd mod (I believe Hellrazer started this). The new screen will be on par to new handhelds and the battery life will be drastically increased too, it will be (once again) king of portables, at least that's how I feel about it.
get a nomad and mod the screen
or get a smart phone and mod that *shrug*
The nomads pretty sick... and i am sure will make people question you when you show up with it like "what the hell is that thing?!?!?"
Nomad is way to go
Go with Nomad.

If you're certain to often play mobile, Nomad is fine. Ensures best accuracy over emulators. At the cost of bulkiness...
It obviously is wasteful to get Nomad for only the TV out. Never even using it portable anyway. CDX offers everything that would achieve and more.

Lum fan.
As much as I like the Nomad I wouldn't actually use it to play games on the go, the battery life isn't going to be that great and it's pretty bulky. Plus I wouldn't want to risk it getting damaged or stolen. I've taken a Nomad with me to test out some games before buying them on craigslist, but that's it. There's newer portables that can play Genesis games, or there's emulation.
Mod your PSP. It's piss easy these days, ever since the signing key leaks. Picodrive is my preference for Genesis emulators, and it runs just about everything accurately, and at full speed. Plus there's assloads of other emulators you can load as well.
there's emulation apps in the app market you don't have to mod a smart phone to use it as a emulator....
mod your PSP i did it with my 3000... and you use it as a emulator for other systems as well.... not to mention you can mod it and if you don't like it you can un mod it... and go with plan B....

If you're seriously considering doing Genesis on the go, I'd suggest a third option which would be a newly created system. I really like the Gen Mobile from Hyperkin. It is cheaper than a Nomad, requires far less batteries, is much smaller and more portable than a Nomad, and has 20 built-in games with it, all licensed, all popular titles. It isn't perfect, it has compatibility issues with a tiny handful of Genesis games and doesn't have the world's greatest button feel (what portable does, really?), but I think if you are looking for an easy, on the go solution, you could do worse than that.

I have a few coming in stock for the GOAT Store soon, and they will be far cheaper than that ($50 or $60, if I recall correctly). If you don't want to wait, you can probably find a good price for one on eBay or something similar too.

As far as I know there is only one portable that plays the entire Genesis library and doesn't have any issues with any games.
That would be the Nomad.
I would replace the screen with e better one. You can also pick up a DC car adapter for it. The same model from the Game Gear will work with the Nomad. If you want to run on batteries then try using some Energizer lithium AAs. They last a lot longer.
Rechargeable lithium batteries are the way to go w/ a Nomad. Otherwise, yeah, the Gen Mobile is a good alternative if you want to play actual cartridges.
The Genesis emulator on the PSP is pretty good, unlike the SNES emulator. I won't say it's perfect, but unless you're incredibly picky it should be good enough.
I'm going to recommend a different approach here. I've been using a Pokefami DX with a RetroPort adapter to play a handful of Genesis games (the 4 that I own - Jurassic Park, X-Men 2, Sonic Classics 3-in-1, Castle of Illusion), and everything on the built-in screen has been great. Look for a Pokefami DX on eBay - the one seller selling them is asking for about $100 shipped now, which is about what the RDP would cost you - or just buy a Retro Duo Portable on Amazon. The RetroGen adapter is about $20 on eBay. So for $120, you can play SNES and Genesis games on the go, plus you get about 6 hours of battery life and a screen that is probably quite a bit better than the Nomad's.
My two cents.
