Eh, even given what I said, I personally see no reason not to give it a shot - just don't get your hopes up, don't expect the experience to massage your ego, and don't expect a lot of enthusiasm from anyone else unless and until it's a success. If any of those things end up coming to pass, then you get to be very, very pleasantly surprised.
Worst case scenario, you spent a night drunk and playing videogames and will spend a few days after that getting increasingly embarrassed at how unfunny it turned out to be - if you never, ever embarrass yourself when drunk, then you're clearly not drinking correctly.
