    Default Card Catcher with Genesis?

    I ordered a Tototek Mark3/SMS -> Genesis adapter, and I was wondering...
    It seems that the SG-1000 Card Catcher goes through the cartridge port...Since the Tototek converter is compatible with SG-1000 carts, would it work with the Card Catcher, allowing my Genesis to play SMS card games?

    Yes, the Card Catcher should work just fine. However, the Genesis is incompatible with all SG-1000 games so you're stuck with SMS/Mark III cards.

    Probably. But a whole Master System might be a better investment. I recently won an ebay SMS1 without cables for $30 shipped.

    Even with the converter?

    Yes. It's a hardware issue. Genesis entirely and completely axed the SG-1000 graphics mode. Those old games would get just sound, if anything.

    So basically, unless there were a few good SMS/Mark 3 games that were only released on cards and not on cartridges, a card catcher would be useless.

    More or less. While it should work on a western SMS, since the base system supports SG-1000 (Master Everdrive proved that), it'll take extra work. You'd have to custom order a cartridge adapter (SMS adapters for Japan games are not readily available) and disable the BIOS lockout.

    As for SG-1000 keyboard games... From the pinout it's believed possible to make a converter to use that keyboard on SMS's rear expansion port. Though there hasn't been any known attempt of the idea.
