I think either Monolith/Sierra/Day 1 Studios should have a crack at it. They all did the F.E.A.R. games(Day 1 did the 360 and PS3 ports) and Monolith/Sierra tackled British humor in the fps game No One Lives Forever. Beyond them I'd love to see Rare get the license again but considering they are owned by Microsoft that probably wouldn't work with the cross platform strategy of the Bond series.

You also need to have a bit of espionage thrown in there, and some conversation trees. James Bond is a witty guy, so you want to be able to conversate with both friend and foe alike. Also, of course, to talk to the ladies.
James Bond is well known for his vehicles, so you need cars, boats and airplanes, and other crazy stunt vehicles.
This means you need a game engine that can handle vehicles as well as first person combat.
Off the top of my head, there isn't any specific developer coming to mind, but again, for me, dialogue between Bond and NPC's would be pretty huge. I would like a Mass Effect like dialogue system. I'd like a Need For Speed like driving engine for the driving sequences. Criterion did a first person shooter in the Xbox 1 days, so maybe they could pull off the combo.

Most of the people who worked on "GoldenEye" left to form Free Radical. This is why the "Timesplitter" games most closely resemble GE.
BTW, when did ActiVision lose the license? I thought they would have it for a long time. If somebody else ends up with it then I hope they have the guts to release the Xbox 360 remake of "GoldenEye" that is, hopefully, still sitting on a shelf somewhere.

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "save us!"......and I'll look down, and whisper "no."
They lost the license in December. All James Bond games were pulled from digital distribution services.
I personally think Activision didn't want to pay to renew the license, so they said "Fuck it" and let it lapse. The fact that they didn't even lower the prices on those games during the Steam sales makes me think that, anyway.
Thats what I'm hoping for as well. And considering that whoever gets it will have nothing to gain by appeasing Nintendo(as Activition did) I don't know why it shouldn't finally be released provided all the neccessary parties get paid. But Microsoft may no longer have any desire to release it, although some kind of online petition might help change their mind.
On consoles Goldeneye Reloaded is currently $20 new and 007 Bloodstone was priced similarly last year or lower on clearance(I got mine for $7 at Target). And Quantum of Solace was also dropped to $20 and lower when it was clearanced out a few years ago. The only game thats currently still at $60 retail is 007 Legends and I'm in no rush to grab that since it will most likely be lowered in price before/if it gets pulled due to the expired license. So far it seems that the only thing the expired license has affected was all of the digital games being removed from Steam, XBL and PSN.

I'm a Bond aficionado but I prefer the games which are largely single player with a good story. Honestly I was hoping to see more remakes like From Russia With Love. Roger Moore is still active, he would do it.

MicroSoft will release it when things fall into place. Given the loud reactions when it was announced that the project was cancelled it was a solid indication of just how much of a hold that the original still has on the gaming public. This also means that MicroSoft can make a lot of money from this remake and they have the resources to get things done now that ActiVision is out of the way. The game was pretty much finished before Nintendo cockblocked the whole thing so all MS has to do is tweak the opening titles and throw it out there. I wouldn't be surprised if within the next couple of months that you hear something concerning the remake from MS.

Not exactly. Crytek bought Free Radical Design, who became renamed Crytek UK. As Free Radical Design was made by ex-Rare employees, including David Doak himself, Crytek UK is literally composed of many people who worked on Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark. Like I said, give the Bond franchise to Crytek so Crytek UK can make the games.

Obsidian. Alpha Protocol could have been amazing but was strangely enjoyable despite its limitations and rough edges. My ideal Bond game would basically be an expanded version of that.
I haven't played Bloodstone yet but I really liked Quantum of Solace, epecially since they threw in missions from Casino Royale. The only thing I didn't like about it is that they never tell you in the paper or digital manual that theres a melee button. I found it out the hard way while in a shootout in an online multiplayer game.
