Default Looking for cheap game center ideas

So I'm getting tired of hauling out my old consoles/games when the urge hits me. I have an open corner of my living room where I would like to set something up that will hold a 13 inch tv, a handful of consoles and a modest amount of games.

The thing is my funds are tight and I need it on the cheap side. I've checked out ikea and there were a few things that could work but would love if anyone could offer some alternatives or DIY stuff. Thanks in advance!

Ive bought shelves from Ikea in the past, they are nice but more expensive. Check yard sales, this time of year is great for that type of stuff. Check craigslist and dont be afraid to lowball people on shelves, its the type of thing people just want gone.

Before you get your gaming area setup you might wanna think about getting a larger CRT tv. With a little effort you could find a 27 inch or larger for close to nothing. Its something you might want in the future, and then you would have to re-arrange everything.

Thanks for the responses guys. Checking thrift shops and Craigslist are great ideas. For some reason they didnt even occur to me.

As for upgrading the tv size i would love to but im stuck in a crappy apartment. Space is at a premium. Going to keep it in mind though!

You can also buy shelf brackets at wal-mart or home depot and add a plank of wood on top. This is only a option if you are allowed to drill holes in the wall; might not be if you are in an apartment. I have my flatscreen tv and computer monitor setup like this, and its great. Doesnt take up any floor space, total cost less than 6$.

Or you could always just run down to Target and get a cheap shelf to put your games and consoles on. I don't know if it'd be strong enough to hold a 13" TV set, or deep enough for that matter. But you can always put it on some kind of stand next to the shelf if you need to.

That's actually a great idea that I didn't think of. Have a small play area and then a series of shelves or a book case to just keep it all on. Thanks for the tips!
