Default Sony President Trolls Twitter, better not be trolling us.

    http://kotaku.com/sony-president-tro...ium=Socialflow

He tweets "Death Ray Manta coming to PSVita".......

Well played, Sony. The good news is: if Sony executives are joking around about this stuff on Twitter, chances are they don't have anything super-restrictive planned for the PS4. Because if they do, and they're still trolling people... well, those people will riot in the streets.
Yeah, if there is PS4 DRM this will be even douchier than Xbox Team people saying they hope publishers limit used games on their system.

Adam Boyes, the VP of publisher and developer relations at SCEA recently tweeted that the no DRM campagin was ''working pretty well." So that in itself confirms that there is a DRM measurement in place at the moment. Truth be told the whole DRM thing is on game publishers that feel theres more money to be made without a used game market or in the case of the XBone(and likely Sony) theres money to be made by shoehorning your way into the resale of games. If this campaign could somehow convince the bigwigs at EA,Activision, Capcom and the like that there will be a backlash(and IMO a industry crash), we will hopefully see the end of this silly DRM talk on both the PS4 and XBone.
    Bury me with my money......*dies*

Xbox One was designed to install the entire game, so unless they remove the always on and DRM and switch it to disc check on game start up, then it's too late for Microsoft at this point. Either that or they could redesign it for where it doesn't fully install.

I actually think the full install of each game is a good idea on the technical side of things though. Not the always on or DRM. But developers could have full use of the games data through the hard drive, allowing data that isn't being stored within the RAM to be pulled from the harddrive. A better version of the mandatory install Sony had.
Everything in the above post is opinion unless stated otherwise.

I don't really mind the system that Microsoft has in mind, but I have a big problem with the fact that Ebay and Craigslist is likely out the window. I'd prefer to just have a $5 across the board fee , or even a $10 across the board fee, but let us sell on Craigslist and Ebay, or wherever else we might want to sell it.

The problem with Microsoft having a list of certified retailers that we take our games to for credit, is that we will end up getting pennies on the dollar for our stuff. For example, my kids have this Skylanders game for 360 that they never play. If I took all that Skylanders stuff up to GameStop, and tried to get store credit, I'd be lucky to get 8 or 9 bucks. Yet if I sold it on Craigslist, I could get a solid 30 bucks for it.

Even if I have to pay a $10 fee to sell a used game, I still come out ahead by selling it on Craigslist.

F having to go through a middle man.

Microsoft thinks that everybody wants to go to GameStop to trade their stuff in, but that's only the uneducated peoples that have no idea what their stuff is actually worth. Either that, or they are just lazy, or too scared to meet a Craigslist buyer. It boggles my mind everytime I'm in a GameStop, and I see some guy carry a stack of games up to the front counter, and I hear the GameStop employee tell him... "Well, this game is 3 bucks credit, this game is 2.50, this game is 1.75"

I've seen a guy with a stack of like 8 really good games, and he only got like 20 bucks store credit. It was so disgusting.

I think they're both of those things. I'll give you an example. Here's a completed auction list for the 360 version of the DLC map Nuketown 2025 for COD: Black Ops II over the last two months. I couldn't find a way to seperate the listings with just the Nuketown map and the listings with both the map and the game but if you scroll thru you'll see the map listings.

Anyway, this was initially a preorder bonus and also available in first editions of the game. The cheapest ended auction I found was for $3.25 on May 1st and the most expensive was for $24.97 on March 25th. There is also a range of prices in between those two. So why does this matter? Because that map was made free on XBL back on March 13th. Considering you have to be on XBL to play Black Ops II in the first place it wouldn't have taken much effort for the people buying this map(including someone who bought it 8 days ago for $6.01) to have looked under the DLC listings in the game menu or dashboard menu to look up the price of this first before buying it off of ebay/craigs list/amazon. And that right there is your typical Gamestop trade-in customer. They're either too lazy or too misinformed to know better.

I think a big part of it is also the fact that people think that selling stuff on Craigslist or Ebay takes too much effort. Some, are actually indeed worried about meeting strangers on Craigslist just to sell a game. They would rather get half their value in gamestop credit.

There is also a group of people that think spending the time and effort listing something on Ebay or putting something on Craigslist isn't worth it, and they just settle for the GameStop credit. The weird thing about those people, is you'd think they wouldn't even care about trading their stuff in, and would just hold onto anything they bought.

Regardless, the really screwed up part, is not only are we going to get HALF of what we could get on Craigslist or Ebay, but it will actually be even less than that, because of the money that GameStop is going to share with MS and the publishers. So, we'll probably be lucky to get 1/3rd what we could get on Craigslist selling directly to another gamer.
