seems ok to me from the pics but i am not a big sega fan.
is the cheap feeling plastic shell throwing you off?
because thats normal, all the ones i have are made of crap ABS
That looks like a clone to me...
I've never seen a model 2 with that writing on it.
The model 2 genny has pushbutton power and reset, not switches like that.
The expansion port looks like no expansion port I've ever seen. I don't think this unit will work at all with a Sega CD.
Could be a Chinese knock off. The expansion port is a big problem. Besides that it looks like someone was trying to make their own Mega Drive plastic body.
definitely fake, its in a NTSC-J MD2 Shell but the colours are all wrong, and that edge connector doesnt look like it will connect to a mcd
Please, open that thing up and take some photos! If that is a clone, then I want to see its motherboard! Genesis clones could be made using off the shelf components so looking at what they did would be extremely interesting, and we'd also be able to tell you more specific details about that thing.

I'm thinking clone, because don't legit Megadrive 2's have orange buttons and no slider switch?
Don't go away mad....just go away!
This one has Genesis 2 all-black color. But the logo and power switch type used for Megadrive 2 in most of Asia (excluding Korea).
Not to mention FCC is a US organization. That sticker wouldn't be there normally.
I doubt Sega CD will ever work. Its connector has longer pins with like twice as many.
Also check the back. Legit megadrive uses a din to allow RGB video that 32X needs.
Lum fan.
Based on the model number ending in 07, it should be a Thailand Mega Drive. Of course it appears to be a bootleg as the expansion connector is wrong and the colours are off. The FCC sticker is another problem. I'll post a link to a legit one below.

That's without a doubt a clone.

when you do, please take some photos. Though most of us are sure its a clone, the motherboard pics will confirm it and also be geek porn for us techheads.

I've seen pics of various Mega Drive clones and while they look like Mega Drives they usually have different unique names, like Magic Drive for example. This system actually calls itself a Sega Mega Drive 2 so it's more of a bootleg system than a clone.
Somehow I recall reading another thread somewhere featuring that thing but that maybe only "deja-vu"
In any case, YES, MOTHERBOARD PICTURES!!!![]()
It's the same version of the Japanese Mega Drive 2 with a 1 button and 1 switch.
Those were colored with the power switch gray and the reset button blue.
Also the cart slot had red doors.
Japan
Europe
Korea ( Super Aladdin Boy?)
and of course the Model 2 Genesis.
Here's the link to pretty good Sega Retro site.
