What arcade games can/could you play for at least 2 hours on 1 quarter?
I'll start.
Asteroids- I could easily play that game indefinitely.
Pac-Man- I've been through the 9th Key and beyond.

Gauntlet. I played for 9 hours on a dollar. When it was all said and done, that is the day that I look back on a realize that it was the day I consigned any prayer of being well liked or socially accepted to the flames.
SpasticFuctard needs poon badly!
Mat Mania / Exciting Hour for sure...
Some puzzle games I can last a long time, but I don't know if I can last two hours.
Oh, I forgot Super Mario Brothers. I can prolly last more than 2 hours on that. Especially if you add in that level 5 loop.
D
Dragons Lair, I can play this indefinitely, as it never changes difficulty. Once you win, it just starts you over..and on and on...
Also, I was very proficient at Mat Mania and Mat Mania Challenge, I've lasted over 2 hours on that before. I could go over an Hour on The Main Event as well.
It does? Is there a dipswitch setting to that effect? All the machines I've seen and played end the game when you rescue Daphne.Originally Posted by Gunstarhero

Konami's Aliens (1990; Japanese release at the very least). If you walk to the right a bit, you can actually make the screen scroll backwards a little--and that wipes the "Hurry!" off the screen for a good fifteen-thirty seconds :D
I believe you can use that trick to stay in a certain area indefinitely.
Edit: At the very beginning of the game (at least), standing still is a bad idea...three flying alien heads came and sat right on top of me for three hits. Ow. You can shoot them but it doesn't seem to do any damage, and they'll hit you first anyways.
marvel vs capcom, i faced like 50 people withouth losing
Yes, there are a couple of dipswitch settings to the game (including a very annoying "pay to play" feature ). I'm 98% sure there is a continue play after finishing the game option as well. It does get harder though I believe (as in the timing needs to be more precise).Originally Posted by Arcade Antics
As for me.. Hmmm! Despite my arcade l33tn3ss and m4d sk1llz , I can barely think of ANY arcade game I can last a full 2 hours in. I know a couple of Pacman patterns all through the 9th key.. so I'm pretty sure I can do that if I really tried. Ditto for Ms.Pac.. I can play a while (esp on the fast setting that's the norm these days). But the one machiine I can play almost forever, is definitely the original SPACE INVADERS. I can't last half as long in Space Invaders part 2/Deluxe however. It's much harder. I'm also good in Donkey Kong.. but I don't know if it's a full 2 hours worth good know what I'm saying?
Jeeze, I hadn't even though of those... Yeah, I can play Mortal Kombat I & II for a few hours depending on if the 12 year old asian kid decides to come over and beat the pants off me for steppin'.marvel vs capcom, i faced like 50 people withouth losing
SF
Depending on where I'm playin, I could last on a few fighters.
Outside of that though, I really don't know. I've seen guys at the arcade go for about 2, 3 hours at a time on Section Z. It's ridiculous.
Check out the Kleppings!
Make Way For Madness!

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for me. I always go to tournaments for this game, so i get my practice. I can last 2-3 hours depending on whos playing.Originally Posted by Slipdeath
Bubble Bobble i can also usually last long if i concentrate like hell.
Metal slug 1-3,Puzzle bobble,Pac man, Galaga,Galaxian, and ms pacman. Ms pacman took me a little bit more then what I first said and took about 4 hours to actually beat the game with one quarter.
Well, I never thought about the dip switch settings, I just thought that's the way it was! Hmm..NE146 says it does have this option, so I must have been lucky at my local arcade back then to have this setting. All I know is I had to voluntarily quit the game if I wanted it to end.Originally Posted by Arcade Antics
How do you accomplish this? It only takes me 30 minutes to go from start to finish on this game. Does it have a dip setting for looping, like Dragons Lair has(that I just found out)?Originally Posted by hamburgler
No cheats, No cheat related codes. Just one quarter it took me to complete the game in the arcade. It took me about 1-2 hours to beat each Metal slug. And believe me, it was not easy to do at all.
Im so stupid, i forgot to mention Galaxian, which i own at home. Now i have 3 to my list.
I can beat Double Dragon, Yie-Ar Kung-Fu, Kung-Fu Master and Shinobi on one quarter ... but I don't think any of them would last 2 hours.
I played 19XX for about an hour or so.
