Update and manual:
Super Aleste - Super Famicom
Yo!
New review and manual:
Lagrange Point - Famicom
yo!
I also found it quite odd that Tiny Toon Adventures 2 used a VRC7. It's hard to imagine Konami wasn't planning an international release when they developed it, so one would wonder why they didn't just develop it for the MMC3 (I'm assuming was) used in the NES version in the first place. Maybe they didn't bother using the expansion sound to at least save them that step for the NES release.
Yep, I always found that a bit odd as well... maybe they had a stock of VRC7 left over from Lagrange Point (as far as I know the game didn't sell in high volumes in Japan). Does anyone know if the VRC7 on TTA2 was the same as the one used on LP? Or a cut down version?
Yes yes…I know updates have been slow coming lately, but my new job has been gobbling up all my time... but don't you fear, here's a new review!
New review and manual:
Final Mission - Famicom
ya!
New review and manual:
Sylphia - PC Engine
Ya!
Good to see new updates.
Though it seems I was mixing up my obscure PCE shooters and I think it was... God Panic... that was this super-bizarre game I had seen recently.
More updates and manuals:
Cyber Cross - PC Engine
Cross Wiber - PC Engine
Gomola Speed - PC Engine
@SparTonberry
Ah ah! Awesome! Yeah, and God Panic is also not in the same price range
It sure has been a while since any updates happened on Video Game Den, hasn't it? Work and side projects have been gobbling up my time lately. But you don't have to live in fear any longer! Here is a new review!
New review and manual:
Hitler no Fukkatsu - Famicom
Ya!
I scanned my manuals for Almana no Kiseki and Meikyujin Dababa for FDS.
(though both are bound rather than stapled, so I probably damaged them a bit. But oh well, in the name of science. )
What's interesting is that I noticed the Dababa manual had an ad for Getsufuuma-den in the back. Looks like Getsufuuma was probably originally meant to have SRAM saving. "2-mega + memory backup"
Hey Ikermel! Just popping in to say it's good to see you still cranking material out. How many years have you been manning your site now?
RVG turned 8 years old the other month, and recently I had the thought... how many people in the entire world run a one man video game fansite for 8+ years now (and has been fairly consistently updated in those years)? I feel like you've been around as long as I have, maybe even longer! We are definitely in a very very small class. Heck, there aren't even very many one man gaming fansites around anymore today, let alone ones that have stood for 8+ years!
It's kind of crazy to think about
@Steven
RVG already turned 8!?! Wahoooo! This is insane!!! I know, time flies! Video Game Den is actually 10 this year! I wanted to organize a little something on the website but I've been way too busy at work. And before VGDen, there was the PC Engine Lounge which I created around 2002/2003, so yeah! It's been a while! I sometimes wish the site was a little bit more popular, but it is a real passion of mine and I'll just carry on updating it! I have also rearranged my priorities and been working on other side projects, including my illustration work and I've also been writing my own video game
And you're right, one man projects that run for 8+ years seem to be rare these days! We should be proud of our commitment
@SparTonberry
Ah ah! Yeah, I see what you mean about FDS manuals, scanning them usually destroys them. I actually wait until I can find a cheap copy of a game before I scan one of these. Reminds me that I've scanned a bunch of them, needs now to find the time to upload all of that to the site...
Keep up the awesome work! I bought War of the Dead and Space Hunter both from reading about them on video game den. You put a great resource out there for everyone!
I hear ya bro. Especially on the "I wish it was more popular" bit but you know what, VGDen (and I like to think my site too) has this sort of "underground" vibe going for it, which is cool in its own right. We aren't as popular as the HG101s of the world, but we have our own niche fanbase and our respective sites' general feedback speaks for itself. A lot of things get hyped in this day and age, and people say good things just to be nice. But the feedback I've seen for both of our sites over the years tells me that we're both doing something right.
Congrats on turning 10 later this year. That is quite a feat. I don't know if you're familiar with Flying Omelette, but its webmaster recently announced that the site is no longer being updated. Fansites just aren't very common these days, so yeah, we're a dying breed, man. We're dinosaurs in a world of "Gametube" and gaming wikis. Keep up the passion and keep up the great work. Maybe we'll both make it to 20 in due time. Reason to celebrate and... possibly be a little depressed too if it ever happens. Haha. Kidding. Sorta

@Steven
The Flying Omelette is going dark? Oh, this is such a shame... but I really understand, I've had a few phases where I was really close to pull the plug as well. But I decided to keep VGDen alive and to slow down the rate of updates instead, and it looks like I can achieve this balance and keep everything else in my life going. As you rightfully said, let's shoot for our 20th anniversary!
New review and manual:
Abadox (Famicom)

Jinmu Denshō - PC Engine

Im glad youre still updating your site, hope youre making regular backups, it would be a damn shame if all these reviews and manual scans went down..
