So the official line is, no, do not force a different cord to work. Whether that's true or just MS wanting you to buy your stuff from them, couldn't say. Don't think I'd risk it unless it was impossible to find a proper cord.
I looked up that page to find out about the cord. The power brick has the three prong connector so I am going to use the three hole wire connector. Maybe it is special cord, but it seems to me that it is more aesthetics (and/or making it look proprietary) than functionality.

Like Leo_A responded to the initial post, the output after the brick has to match the system, since the power outputs are different.

It just seems to me that the different cord can be used, even if it is modified, since it is simply bringing in the power to be converted. I've seen sites with others who have modified the cord, but just because it has been done doesn't mean it will work! So I just wanted to see if anyone had any additional knowledge, since I'm certainly not an expert on power supplies.

Since I haven't heard anything that would lead me to believe it is different, I'll probably give it a shot, unless I happen to find the cord in the meantime.
